"Your chefs are a godsend and assets to your team! - your serving staff needs some direction. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty except for two people at the bar and one table of about eight people. The host warmly greeted and seated us immediately. We looked at the menu and knew exactly what we wanted in about five minutes. Another five minutes pass and a server still hadn’t come to greet us or take our drink order. We continued to be patient and waited to be noticed. Another five minutes pass. At the 15minute mark, I get up, find the host and inform her that we still have not been greeted by a server. Momentarily, a server came and greeted us - we put in our drink and appetizer order. She didn’t write our order down when we gave it but then came back five minutes later to confirm a detail. I’m all for being suave and taking an order by memory, but at least have the expertise to carry through with it and not double back for a reminder. Our appetizer arrived about ten minutes later. . . before our two drinks. Simply acknowledging us and letting us know of any setback that may have been happening in the kitchen would have worked wonders with us. Communication with your customers is key. As for the food. It was beyond delicious and was a major redeeming quality of our experience here. The amazing quality of the food is what turned this would-have-been one star review to a four star review. The meal was perfect. We ordered the Wisconsin cheese curds as our appetizer, which came out hot and were very tasty and provided a very impressive cheese pull! I ordered the Reuben with Cajun fries and a side of ranch paired with the Dreaming Tree Chard. My sandwich was bursting with perfectly tender and seasoned corned beef and sauerkraut. One of the best Reuben sandwiches I’ve ever had! My friend ordered the Washington Mule with her mac & cheese entree to which she added sautéed mushrooms and pork belly. The mac & cheese was absolutely divine and sported a very homemade, from-scratch flavor. The addition of the tender and flavorful pork belly and earthy mushrooms into the Mac leveled it up incredibly! The Washington Mule wasn’t for the faint of heart - your bartender knows how to make a very good drink! I would like to give a big thank you and shout out to your wonderful and talented chef(s). Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it! I hope you get the appreciation and recognition you deserve."

"I was in Elgin and had an hour to kill, so I looked online for somewhere nearby to grab some lunch and saw The Elgin Public House. I was greeted warmly at the door by Keri who served me. The build your own burger was fantastic, as were the fries. Very comfortable atmosphere, and excellent service. If I find myself that way again I will definitely stop back in."
