What People Are Saying
from Google"My husband and I visited here on 8/8/25 because he saw great reviews on check please and this is a black own business. Well I’m going to jump right in. This seems to be a decent size restaurant although it appears only a small area was open during our visit. We were seated immediately. Our waitress Jay was very kind and attentive. Our fried green tomatoes came back quickly. They were sliced thickly and very hot! The ranch dressing was not good at all but the other dressing was good. The appearance of the steak and eggs wasn’t appealing to the eye, the temperature was good and the steak was tender however it lacked flavor, the taste was bland. The fried catfish was piping hot, crunchy and very meaty but it lacked seasoning. The red beans and rice was warm didn’t taste fresh and had a vinegar taste. The roasted potatoes with red and green peppers were also only warm and lacked seasoning I added salt and pepper which did make them taste better. I really appreciated the chef walking around table to table asking if everything was ok however his appearance need to be polished he was wearing a baseball cap cocked to the side and saggy shorts. The dining area was acceptable for this being a community cafe."
"Food was so good- shrimp n grits (they use chicken sausage-yasss), side of collard greens and mimosa. Celebrating my sister'd birthday and our server Pedro was awesome- brought her a slice of a dang good slice of pound cake. Definitely will be visiting again and agai n."
"This place was beautiful. Lots of character. Food was amazing! So many great choices. Great staff. Stopped in during a trip to Chicago for a funeral. I will go back again."
"Our food was delicious and the service was great! We recommend the Cajun Mac n Cheese, Fried Catfish, Seafood Omelette (has Shrimp & Crab with fluffy eggs), Grits, Lobster Sauce, and Peach Cobbler, which were all delicious! The pancakes and the lemonade were just ok. The pound cake was too dry and not recommended."
"Regretful to say flavor seemed to off to my party. Shrimp creole was bathe in what seem to be mild sauce 🤔, very thick and very sweet. Catfish was a bit dry. Something was missing from the Jambalaya, not quite sure. The 3 sauce wings were pretty good besides not being thoroughly plucked. We will give it another go💯"
