What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Café Du Monde is an absolute must-visit for the quintessential New Orleans experience. It's a truly beautiful spot, especially at night when the lights hit the square. The location near Jackson Square is perfect. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit back, watch the constant rush of the city, and enjoy the moment. You can also grab your coffee and stroll around the square or river area, which is a nice experience in itself. A critical tip for your visit: the place is always busy, so don't bother waiting for a table if you just want coffee and beignets. Use their fast-moving to-go line, and then find a bench or head down to the river to sit and enjoy your treat. It will save you a ton of time. For a classic, iconic New Orleans treat and a great people-watching experience, Café Du Monde is essential, especially in the evening."
"The beignets never disappoint—hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. They’re the reason you come here, and they live up to the hype every single time. Service is quick and efficient, even when it’s busy, which keeps things moving smoothly. The ambiance can be a bit loud thanks to nearby street performances, but the indoor seating helps soften the noise and makes it easier to relax and enjoy your food. The coffee is excellent and pairs perfectly with the beignets. The hot chocolate was good, but not great—fine if you want it, though the coffee is definitely the better choice here. Overall, Café du Monde remains a must-stop in New Orleans for its iconic beignets, fast service, and classic atmosphere. Bring cash! Cash only!"
"When we arrived it was a free for all trying to grab the next available table. We found one that hadn’t been cleaned and stood by it until our waitress came around to clean it. It was cleaned only partially, but at this point I just took out a Clorox wipe and cleaned it myself. The wall we were sitting next to was filthy- dried splashed coffee and powder along with the floor covered in white powder. Our waitress did come back only a few minutes later to take our order. She arrived back a few minutes later again with our plates which was on a wet powdery dirty tray. She picked them up to put them on our table with powder all over her hand transferring it to our plates. When I asked for clean plates and showed her the powder, she got mad and walked away. I had no way of knowing if this powder on her hands came from someone else’s plate cleaning up a table or a fresh batch since the tray was so dirty. When she brought us our beignets, she told us we would need to eat them on napkins! The beignets and coffee were good hence the 2 stars, but I was so grossed out by how filthy the place was and how rude our waitress was, I would never go back. I feel like the company feels like they have earned a reputation on their beignets that the details and pride of ownership running their restaurant do not matter anymore."
"This place is awesome! One of the highlight experiences on my 1stctrip to New Orleans aka NOLA you can't go without trying the original beignets from this historical place. We were offered a family vacation and this is one of the places to be. Great experience, great service, excellent beignets, fun and exciting atmosphere, there was singing dancing and we were surrounded by a bunch of happy and friendly warm interesting people that night. 🌙"
"An absolute New Orleans classic that lives up to the hype! We went late at night, and even though it was super busy, the staff was full of energy and made us feel like we were the only customers there. The beignets were perfectly warm, fluffy, and covered in just the right amount of powdered sugar. The café au lait was the perfect pairing. The atmosphere was lively, with the sounds of street music floating through the air and that unmistakable NOLA charm all around. A must-visit spot every time we’re in the city!"
