In all honesty, we have had better doughnuts at Tim Hortons back home in Canada. The coffee with chicory was enjoyable enough — creamy, but mainly because of the added cream. The service left something to be desired. The waiter was noticeably cocky; when the bill came to about $15 and I handed him a $20, he remarked, “Thank you, this is my tip.” I chose to ignore it, but it certainly did not elevate the experience. Now, the parts that did live up to expectations: the atmosphere and the view. Sitting under the fans, watching people stroll by, soaking in the energy and personality of New Orleans — that was the real charm. That feeling of life happening around you is what made the visit worthwhile. Would I call it a must-visit? Not necessarily.
