"My recent dining experience at OAK Long Bar + Kitchen was overall very good, highlighted by delicious food and a warm, inviting atmosphere that made for a pleasant evening. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance stood out — cozy lighting, comfortable seating, and a lively yet relaxed vibe that perfectly suits a special night out or a casual dinner with family. The food was the real star of the evening. Every dish we tried was flavorful and well-prepared. The grilled shrimp was exceptional — perfectly cooked and seasoned. The lobster roll was rich and satisfying, while the grilled chicken was tender and juicy. The bouillabaisse offered a nice mix of seafood flavors, and the warm sourdough bread was a comforting start to the meal. For dessert, the chocolate mousse was decadent, but the skillet cookie truly stole the show — warm, gooey, and packed with chocolate. It was the perfect sweet ending. However, the service left something to be desired. Our waitress was often hard to find, and the pacing of the meal could use improvement — all the dishes arrived at once, rather than being served in the usual appetizer-to-entrée order. A bit more attention and coordination from the staff would have elevated the experience even further. Despite the service hiccups, I would definitely recommend OAK Long Bar + Kitchen for its excellent food and inviting atmosphere. With a little improvement in service, it could easily become one of the best dining experiences in the city."

"Had breakfast brunch and dinner here on separate days. The food was really good at dinner. We ordered mussels but when we ordered the same mussels again the next day, the flavors were slightly different and the sourdough that comes along was burnt and over baked. The waits were slightly long even though there were clearly tables open. The wait for the food was on 30 to 60 minutes. We ordered American dream twice and both times they forgot the juice. When we asked for the check, it took 10 minutes before it came up. We ordered medium steak but the steak came out as clearly medium rare."

"Grabbed brunch here with my wife before attending a wedding, which was a great choice. The Fairmont is a beautiful Boston landmark and the oak long bar contributes to that; a very cool spot to have a meal or a drink. I had the crab cake Benedict which was very fresh and flavorful. My wife had the bagel which was very good (coming from a New York bagel snob). I also had a really good Bloody Mary and espresso martini. The bartenders were very friendly and quick with their service. Great spot for food and/or a drink of your in Boston!"

"We popped in for wine and bread before a comedy show, it was busy and lively. Luckily, we snagged two seats at the bar. This place is worth visiting for the history and charm alone. The wine was average for the price, but the bread was phenomenal.... warm, fresh, and the highlight of our visit. The service was friendly despite the crowd. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed. I’d love to return for dinner next time to experience the full menu!"

"Chipped Tooth from Debris in Food: Management Response Was Unacceptable— We dined at Oak Long Bar + Kitchen twice during our Boston stay. The first visit was genuinely lovely- great cocktails, great appetizers, and a beautiful atmosphere. That first experience is the only reason we came back. Unfortunately, the second visit was a masterclass in how not to manage a restaurant or treat paying customers. We returned during lunchtime, around 1pm, because we were nearby and remembered how much we’d enjoyed it the first time. My husband and I ordered espresso martinis (and would have had more), and I ordered the roasted chicken and vegetables since my heart needed a break from the lobster rolls and butter-heavy dishes we’d been indulging in all trip. Almost immediately, the tone shifted. After our actual server- who was perfectly pleasant- had already taken our drink order, an older, dark-haired woman abruptly approached our table. No greeting, no introduction. Just: “I don’t know if your drinks have already been ordered, but what do you want to drink and eat.” The delivery was rude, aggressive, and completely unnecessary. I politely explained that our server had already taken our drink order, but since she made it very clear she expected us to order food right then, we went ahead and placed our order with her. Her behavior made me feel so rushed and unwelcome that I asked whether they were about to stop serving lunch- because that’s genuinely what it felt like. It was 1pm. Lunch service runs until 4pm. We had been seated for maybe 10–15 minutes, they were not busy, we were not lingering or just sitting on drinks, and were fully intending to eat. There was absolutely no reason for the pressure or hostility, and it set the tone for the rest of the experience. Despite that, I was actually enjoying my meal. The chicken was tender, the vegetables were perfectly cooked- no complaints whatsoever about the food itself or the servers. Unfortunately, that’s where the positive part of this story ends. While eating the spinach, I suddenly bit down on something extremely hard and sharp- so hard that my husband actually heard the sound. I had to dig around in my mouth in the middle of this gorgeous restaurant and pulled out a large, jagged pebble. Clearly, the spinach had not been washed properly. After rinsing my mouth, I realized my back molar had been chipped. Mistakes happen. That alone wasn’t the biggest issue. What was unacceptable was how management handled it. The first person who came over was polite and apologetic and said she needed to follow up and would return. Fine. Then the same unpleasant dark-haired woman returned- not to apologize, not to check if I was okay- but to tell my husband we’d need to fill out an incident report. No empathy. No concern. Just procedural coldness. Then the first manager came back and things got even worse. She informed me they would just be comping my single meal, and then proceeded to treat me like I was being investigated rather than helped. I was made to feel interrogated- asked for my phone number, how long we were staying, whether we were guests of the hotel - as if that somehow mattered. The entire interaction felt like they assumed I was lying or trying to get something for free because I wasn’t a hotel guest. It was humiliating. I was told they would call me after speaking with security. Spoiler alert: they never did. No follow-up. No concern. Nothing. I accepted their insulting single-meal comp, didn’t cause a scene, and left quietly- still giving them the benefit of the doubt that maybe, just maybe, someone would do the right thing once they “reviewed the footage.” Footage which would clearly show me biting down in pain, reacting in shock, and pulling a literal pebble out of my mouth. I have never felt so dismissed, judged, and disrespected in a restaurant- especially one where I was spending very good money and expecting a certain level of professionalism. This wasn’t just a bad meal; it was a complete failure of management, accountability, and basic human decency."
