from Google"Maruichi is a Japanese focused grocery store that has a good selection of quality meats, fish, produce and snacks. Their produce section is quite good but prices can be quite a bit more than other Asian grocery stores. But, I think it is better quality. They also have prepared foods. Their onigiris are especially popular. We've tried almost all of them including the Ramen egg onigiri. There's too little filling in the triangle ones for the price and the rice is often not well cooked. The Ramen egg version is decent though with an egg inside. We often get their sliced milk bread which is shipped from NYC. It has a nice texture and chew. They carry household and skin care products too. Would love to see more specific regional products from Japan such as unique fruits. Current fruit section is poor and expensive. Overall, though, it's a great store conveniently located in the middle of Coolidge Corner."
"I’m giving Mairuichi Japanese Market 3 stars. The market itself has a decent selection, but the service left much to be desired. The female staff were rude and unpleasant, which is not the kind of Japanese-style service I’ve come to expect from authentic Japanese markets. The experience felt off and made shopping less enjoyable, even though the products themselves were okay. Some improvement in customer service would make a big difference."
"Love their selections and fresh items. The beef is very well cut and of high quality but rather pricey compared to H mart but I was lucky to have come on their anniversary so they had anniversary offers. I like how we could also find staple make up and household items there too. The aisles are rather narrow so recommended to come on weekdays to avoid crowd."
"Really great selection of products!!! It's nice to find some of the same food & drink brands we did in Japan, even some really niche ones! The staff is SOOO kind and friendly. Street parking is super easy on weekday mornings. The "ramen" onigiri (pork + ajitama) was INCREDIBLE, I kept going back for more! Nice to get a free drink voucher next door at the cafe, which also has bento boxes and more sushi / onigiri. The gachapon machines are such a fun treat, too! Only 1 visit out of my last 5 were they a little low on inventory, but they're usually pretty stocked. All in all FANTASTIC Japanese market, worth the visit!"
"Great selection and lovely staff. They focus mostly on Japanese products but you can find a good amount of Korean pantry staples as well. I can’t speak to the meat and fish but as a vegetarian I can almost always find what I’m looking for here, and prices are honestly pretty good!"
