from Google & Yelp"Dolce Amar is a Groton staple and continues to impress! With being in a small town having a bakery and cafe is tough but not for Dolce Amar. The size of this cafe is perfect for a morning coffee or a nice lunch. The atmosphere is very on brand and comfortable. It's like if you went on the Great British Bake Off show. The staff and service are top notch. They were very kind and always had a smile on their face. The barista's have a great skill in the coffee or any of the other drinks they were making. The owner makes her appearance every now and then to the front of the house. She is very very friendly and super helpful. The food and drinks are all made from scratch! From the pastries, coffee, cakes, savory treats, and all the baked goods is all top tier products. If you want to get something amazing I would try the Chocolate Croissants, be warned they sell out fast! The Espresso and drinks have great selections that usually change with the season keeping the drink selection fresh. The multiple baked goods are all worth a try so multiple trips are needed here! The prices are a bit average and nothing to crazy on one side or the other. I will say that with the quality of this product the prices are a steal! Overall, amazing small business to support and see them thrive. The baked goods and drinks are one thing but to bring an experience is another and this place has both."
"We had our wedding cake done here and are just amazed. Starting off with our tasting - Raffaela and team were exceptional. We had such a wonderful experience trying our options and putting together our dream cake. All the way to the end result which is our BEAUTIFUL cake. Raffaela listened whole heartedly to our vision and made our dream cake a reality. Not only was it the dreamiest cake ever, but it tasted absolutely amazing. Thank you Dolce Amar!!! You are all so wonderful."
"We ordered a two tier wedding cake and some vegan cupcakes. Although the cake taste was pretty good, our experience with Dolce Amar was overall negative. Here is why: We picked a picture from their booklet and our cake did not match it all. 1. The cake has a burgundy palette but we specifically picked blush pink to match our theme 2. The base of the cake is plain white when the design had broad pink paint strokes across the entirety of the cake. What bothered me most is the lack of transparency. They didn't give any price range until we placed the order. My MIL sent several emails, but never got a clear response. The owner only sent her 4 emails, an invoice for cake tasting, an invoice for paying the cake and two for the final confirmation. When we received the final invoice, it was itemized with 1. Custom cake - $850 and 2. Cupcakes - $30.90. We had already paid $70 for the cake tasting in August and their website indicates that it can be credited to our order. When asked about adding this credit in our invoice, they told that it was already priced in. So the cake cost was actually $850 + $70 = $920. Also, a couple weeks before the wedding, Raffaella wanted us to pay extra for the buttercream flower, which my MIL had already requested when she ordered the cake. After showing her the original order email, she agreed to drop that extra charge. All in all, we wish we didn't take our venue’s recommendation to use this vendor. Edit: I never said 2 cupcakes for 30.90. I said 2. Cupcakes as I was itemizing the invoice. The owner misread it and blamed me. I had also attached a picture of the invoice clearly showing 6 cupcakes as well."
"We ordered our wedding cake from Dolce Amar in Groton, and it was absolutely perfect! Simple yet so elegant, the cake was not only stunning to look at but also incredibly delicious. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how amazing it was. It was so good that we’re already planning to go back soon to get a mini version just for ourselves! Thank you to the team at Dolce Amar for creating something so beautiful and memorable for our special day. We are so grateful and can’t wait to return for future celebrations."
"I wasn't plan to spend time to write a review on our experience with Dolce Amar Sweets. Since Kimberly wrote one and the owner of the store responses with several mentions of me (the mother in law), I am compelled to clarify some facts. The owner states: "Your future in laws came to the shop and had a tasting with me. They tasted the cakes and chose the design." This is not true. We did go to the store to taste the cake, but we didn't choose the design on the spot. After sending some cake photos we took in the store to Kimberly, she actually didn't choose the design shown in our photos, but picked a cake design from the store's website. I sent an email to the store (the photo of the email was attached in Kimberly's review) to confirm our choice. In my email, I did mention that "we do not need those gold-color decorations", but did not say any thing about changing the flower design and color, didn't say removing all the pink color on the cake, which we actually like. We also didn't recall seeing any owner's sketch. The owner's response also states "I am very confused about the transparency you mention". What I meant about it is the following. I had contacted three bakeries about ordering a wedding case. Both "Silver Whisk Bake Shop & Chocolatier" in Waltham and "Concord Tea Cake" in Concord provided the price quote in email without ordering or tasting any cake. However, this store refused to provide quote or even price range (basically ignore my email inquiries) without spending money to taste their cake and place an order. The reasons we ended up to choose it were 1) the wedding venue suggested this place, 2) it is only 5 minutes away from the venue. I would give the credit to this bakery for delivering the cake to the venue on time."
