"I visited the Vinal General Store mid afternoon mid week, as my family is a fan of the bakery. The theme/setup is really cool and inviting; the layout is meant to convey walking through an old General store but geared towards lunch. Their inventory of candy, chips and soda is WILD ... many of them I've never seen before. The Polar can sugar root beer was awesome. We ordered the Italian and the pimento ham and cheese. Both were stellar. Portions were large; I brought home the second half of the pimento ham as we couldn't finish both. Staff was super friendly. We noticed after sitting down that they have homemade soft serve. We picked up the pumpkin spice latte twist; 10 out of 10 flavor on the soft serve. I really enjoyed this neat little shop. Perfect for a mid day lunch and conversation. Will be back!!"

"Easily the best sandwiches in Boston! They’re stupid good and look photoshopped. The tuna sandwich is like the perfect version of one and my husband says the spuckie is one of the best sandwiches like that he’s ever had. The vibe is also so cute and everyone is super friendly! This post was made in connection with a Toast promotion."

"On a fine Thursday afternoon in November, I decided to try the new limited edition Thanksgiving sandwich from Vinal General store - located on the corner of Somerville Ave and Merriam street - aptly named “The Thankful”. Between the loaves of Iggy’s sliced country was smoked turkey, cheddar, cranberry apple butter, herb mayo, potato chips, arugula, red onion, and a touch of red wine vinaigrette. I must say, this lamination was a bombastic tasting experience. The journey begins with the initial crunch of the potato chips, yielding under the gentle compression of the front teeth, you are greeted by an appetizer of saltiness and a hint of spice. Quickly proceeding it is a bold familiar hit of the turkey, smoked to perfection, and the cheddar cheese. At this point, the arugula has also introduced itself with a second softer, yet pronounced, crunch and a ting of freshness. Soon, the sharp acidity and sour of the cranberry cuts in, followed by the tang and fruitiness of the red wine vinaigrette. Behind all of it lays a canvas from country loaf, soaked with the aromatic herb mayo. I would describe the flavor profile of each bite as trimodal, meaning there are three distinct peaks of flavor intensity. I have never seen this before. Many sandwiches and subs can achieve at most, a bimodal curve, usually from the meats and the sauce. However, The Thankful delivers an additional local maxima from the addition of the cranberry and red wine vinaigrette. There are some truly innovative minds over at the Vinal General Store. I am excited to see how they will continue to push the scales and limits of this artisanal craft."

"Huge fan of the tuna sammy. Comes on a healthy cut of bread and the shredded lettuce is so good. I always swap out the provolone for another cheese and also ask for less mayo, but overall it is really good. It's pricey but #Boston and every single sammy in this town is now at least $15 minimum. My husband really loves their Italian as well. Great addition to the hood and the owners are friendly. Parking is a little tricky but if you are going to take literally 10-15 mins the Target Parking Lot has never failed me."
