What People Are Saying

"My family and I spent a wonderful night at Fatuma Cafe. The owners were very kind and even let us try to make injera, a special type of Ethiopian sourdough fermented for 3 days. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to try authentic African cuisine"

"What a great spot! The hospitality was fantastic. We were greeted right away and, since we had never had Somali food before, we were graciously given samples. The lentil soup was delicious and the sambusas and their sauces were incredibly flavorful. The chai tea was the best I've ever had. Mohammad and his family have created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to return. Please go try this unique restaurant and support this local family."

"Finally, we have a place to eat Ethiopian food in Western Mass -- and not just any place. Fatuma Halal Cafe also serves excellent Somali food -- goat, chicken, or beef with rice and a vegetable side -- all of which we sampled. The injera for the Ethiopian food -- we shared a huge delicious platter of chicken (doro wat) with vegetable sides -- is 100 percent teff, so it's good for gluten-free diners. It's a small place that deserves a large following!"

"Tried Fatuma for the first time today. We were greeted by Mohammed who was very pleasant and attentive. He gave us samples to try several different menu items before purchasing anything. My husband raved about the curry goat stew being delicious. The beef stew was also tender and flavorful. The chai tea was absolutely amazing. As was everything we had. The chopped cheese was really tasty as well. We will definitely be back. I look forward to trying the Malawah (crepes) in the morning."

"We were not sure what to expect when we invited friends to meet us here for lunch. However, we were not expecting to be wowed by the food, the adorable decor, and Hassan and his mom! The tea was amazing and I’ve been thinking about it since we left (and upset with myself for not getting some to go). I’ve never had Somali or Ethiopian food and was nervous about what we would order. No worries there Hassan brought out samples, walked us through the menu and made suggestions. We can’t wait to go back and try some more options and this time I will get tea to go!"
