What People Are Saying
from Google"This place exists in a pocket dimension. Numbers work differently here: such as time and money. On walking in you get the feeling you have entered the 1990s reminiscing about the 1960s. The shelves are stocked, sparsely but deliberately. The decorations covering the walls and such are a bit overwhelming. There is a theme: bocci and the fame that it brings. This place is 20th century Italian American personified. The food is out and ready in serving dishes behind the counter. The people working there talk to you like they know you, which both means they are friendly and a bit forward. They might tell you what you should order which is helpful unless you really like to make your own choices. The whole ordering experience feels rushed. Looking at the options you get the sense that time is moving too quickly and it is running out. Finally, you make a decision and time seems to be brought back into balance. Then they ring you up. The receipt they give you has no itemization on it. Do not do your taxes here. The price may be higher than you expect. They gave me a free phone case for an iPhone (I don't own one). Maybe it fell off of a truck and they are writing it off. You will sit and wait for the food. This is where you might look closer and notice the thin layer of dust covering the walls and accumulated in the corners. It will be eerily quiet unless the owner is speaking and if he is speaking it is about bocci. His tales are not coherent. The food takes oddly long given that everything is already out. The food is not bad. In fact it is pretty good. The portions are fairly generous. As you leave they shout "thanks for coming." Immediately on stepping outside you are reminded what reality is and how time feels and works. I would definitely go back here but probably would not buy anything. They also do travel arrangements."
"Honestly it’s a place I pass by nearly everyday and I always say I’ll stop in again but always forget to, last time I was in there was nearly 5 or 6 years ago but as soon as I walked in it felt unchanged and I knew where everything was. Prices are still amazing and the selection of genuine and authentic Italian foods and items is outstanding. I recommend the planets soda, I prefer the lemon iced tea, it’s refreshing and just right. Would recommend if you’re traveling through Springfield stop in and grab something."
"The Godfather grinder and their own sodas were the best. Extremely friendly owner working alongside his daughter. This is a real old school Italian deli."
"Very rude staff and didn't feel welcomed at all. Saw a review saying something similar and they weren't wrong. Kept getting attitude and weird looks. Don't go here try out these other spots Red Rose Liquori's Pizza Villa Napoletana"
"Came here to try some Italian food in the area. Got one of their grinders and to be honest it wasn't that great. Bread tasted stale, and the service I received from the lady made me feel like I was not supposed to be here. I won't come back."
