What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Best brunch place i've found so far in baltimore. The food, service, and overall vibe are all excellent. We were a party of aid, including three children and were concerned that we'd have a long wait on a Sunday morning since it was very crowded. However, they got us seated in less than 30 minutes in the annex area, which has more space for the kids than the main dining room, which is a little crowded. Very well-thought-out and kid and family friendly restaurant. Large variety of sweet and savory breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes. The gumbo was delicious, as was the pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich. Cinnamon oat french toast was the french toast of the month for January, and was layered with cream sauce and fruit. The hot honey chicken deviled eggs were unique in the eggs being breaded and fried as well as the chicken. Good selection of brunch cocktails as well. The servers were attentive without being bothersome, check on us and refilling our water and coffee as needed. Overall, a very satisfying and tasty brunch for our large family group."
"I found this place a couple years back but my daughter who's a local had heard positive feedback about this spot as well. So, this was our last meal of my visit this trip. We checked in about 11:15a. They said it would be a 45 min wait but actually they called me within 5 mins (party of 2). Yes, we thought the line was long but nothing like when we were leaving about 12:30p. We had already checked out the menu on the drive over and still had some hard decisions to make. It all loved good as we were spied other meals coming in. Finally I decided on the seasonal cinnamon apple carmel mimosa. It was nice. I also had the strawberry pancakes with fried chicken (I was thinking it would be wings, didn't care for the chicken strips, they were dry) and 2 scrambled eggs easy on the side. My daughter had the strawberry cream pancakes with a side of grits. The pancakes came with warm syrup. Service was very attentive and helpful, so we tipped as such. The restrooms are not on the same floor as the restaurant so please, don't get in a tight, it's 3 floors up by elevator use. Already placed on our itinerary for another visit coming soon. We hope your experience is just as wonderful."
"This place has a very interesting menu, it can be a bit much. We went here for breakfast on a Friday morning. We where able to be seated immediately. The parking situation is ok, good luck finding street parking. There is a parking lot behind the building that is connected to the building. You can get a voucher for a discount on parking. I was lucky enough to find street parking. On to the food. The food is pretty good, I personally believe it can be a bit too much. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, they where breaded excellently, they lacked salt, the sauce on them was ok, I thought they put too little relish under them but it was really good. I ordered the gravy train skillet, the chicken tenders where super dry however the collards where delicious, the grits, where delicious, the gravy was ok, i think the egg just added too much to it. My aunt ordered the Fresh garden omelet, she enjoyed it. My father got the southern slammer sandwich, he said he enjoyed it."
"Wow. We got the summer slammer no bacon (vegetarian), pimento biscuits, and coconut stuffed French toast. Everything was a slam dunk, the only thing is I would have preferred just getting the fried green tomatoes by themselves because I realized that’s what I really wanted. But amazing. And we asked why they weren’t serving crab and were told the crab they were getting wasn’t up to their standards and we appreciated that integrity!"
"Fantastic! We picked this place on a whim looking for one of the best brunch spots in Baltimore and we were very happy with the selection. Once we arrived, we saw how much acclaim Miss Shirley's has received, such as from Restaurant Hospitality Magazine and Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. I can see why! To start, I really enjoyed the pimento cheese biscuit and the Shirley's Crush cocktail was quite refreshing. For my main, I went with the Southern Slammer Sandwich, which already sounded good but I couldn't pass up a winner of the best breakfast sandwich in America according to Restaurant Hospitality Magazine. Absolutely delicious. I loved the simple ingredients yet their flavor together was unforgettable. A great sandwich and not overly heavy in my opinion. The stone ground grits were incredible as well. Ester provided great service during our brunch. It sounds like we got pretty lucky with a 30 minute wait as we heard it can get pretty busy. Definitely worth the wait!"
"I had such a great experience at Miss Shirley's! I ordered the pancakes and eggs and absolutely loved it. The pancakes were fluffy, flavorful, and perfectly..."
