"10/10. I’ve been to dozens of coffee shops in Maryland and this little gem knocks it out of the park - HANDS DOWN. It was so good I had to get one for the road and I had only taken one sip of my first! I got the chocolate hazelnut latte, which Dan expertly recommended when I told him how I like my coffee. He is super chill and laid back, as though he’s not making some of the greatest coffee you’ll taste. Can’t wait to visit again when I’m back on that side. Highly encourage you to visit!"

"Coffee Shop No. 489 Boxcar Coffee Co. Columbia, MD I definitely went to this coffee shop bias. Dan, the owner, could have been selling instant coffee and I would have told you how amazing it is. Why? Because Dan is a 2021 Appalachian Trail Thru-hiker. Currently, my precious 18 year old baby boy…I mean young man is attempting the same feat. My son’s trail name is Mowgli. He started the Appalachian Trail March 10, 2025 at Amicalola Falls in Georgia. Today Mowgli’s 110th day and he will likely hit the 1,600 mile mark somewhere in Massachusetts. Dan and Mowgli are amazing in my book! Sorry. I digress. Back to cortados. Dan made a spectacular cortado. He is making specialty coffees from the back of a trailer that he hand built himself, but don’t let that distract you. The cortado was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. He is definitely a connoisseur of coffee and for creating community. If you are ever in the Columbia, Maryland area make Boxcar Coffee Co. a priority to visit. "BEST espresso and coffee craft in the area. Dan is dedicated to making your cup of extract to your liking. Beans are roasted by OneDo Roasting in Baltimore, which follows the St Maria’s standard when roasting. I’ve had his Rwanda and Indonesian coffee so far. Conclusion: Coffee worth traveling to get. Not a joke. Latte art is fantastic."
