"Such a fun place to visit. Amazing (and creative) coffee and pastries, and the curation is amazing- every product feels intentional and interesting with its own story. I stop by every time I’m in Portland, grab salt, spreads, sesame oils, check out new items, and just chill with a coffee. Love it!"

"pleasantly surprised with the amount of genuine japanese goods! the matcha is LEGIT. not as fresh as the stuff i've had in japan by case of proximity, but pretty darn close doe portland maine. lovely low stimulating environment with primarily asian goods. minimal indoor, but plenty of outdoor seating"

"One of the best spots in town to grab a pastry and drink. I ordered the matcha black sesame mochi which was to die for. I also ordered a Hojicha latte with a black sesame foam. Both were perfect, the service was quick and helpful. There is also a cute shop in the front of the store and the coffee is in the back."

"Adorable shop with fermented goods in the front and a matcha cafe in the back. The atmosphere is special and I felt transported to Japan as soon as I walked in. Staff was very helpful. Tried the miso maple cold foam cold brew and it was great. Also had the matcha butter mochi which was perfectly chewy (butter mochi is hard to come by outside Hawaii and California so I was shocked). Highly recommend this place!!!"

"Japanese café located behind a small gourmet grocer with mellow, modern drinks. Stumbled upon this place while wandering the neighborhood in search of coffee. From the outside, it looked like just another curated grocery store, but tucked in the back was a quiet little cafe. No indoor seating in the cafe, just two small tables near the entrance and a few outside. Between the two drinks I tried—the Brown Sugar Coffee and the Iced Black Sesame Foam Hoji—the latter was my favorite. One of the employees suggested I try the Brown Sugar Coffee as a latte, but I opted for it black. In hindsight, I probably should’ve taken their advice. It ended up tasting more like a sweetened Dunkin' coffee than a refined house special. The hoji, though, was fantastic. An ultra-creamy hojicha latte topped with black sesame milk foam. Hojicha and black sesame flavors overlapped a bit, but overall, it was a soft, nutty echo that blended well with the roasted tea notes without any graininess. If you’re into Japanese-style café drinks with a modern twist, this one’s worth checking out."
