"Had a truly poor experience at the Liberty St. location yesterday trying to purchase an Aeropress brewer. They were clearly advertised for $30, but when I went to the register the barista asked me for $22 more dollars and said that the price was now $52. I checked online to make sure $30 wasn’t an obvious mislabeling mistake. Nope. There they are for 30 or so dollars online at various retailers. If I hadn’t needed it for a gift that same day, I’d have just purchased one of those. But I’ve worked retail and shopped retail for decades by now, and I’ve never seen a situation like this not resolve by honoring the advertised price, so I insisted I should be entitled to the advertised price and happily waited for her to get her shift manager—not a big deal. The shift manager though simply disappeared to make a phone call and then came back some time later with the gassy answer that they had called another store and that was how much the price was over there, and then offered no acknowledgment of the mistake that was the *actual* problem. I tried to elicit their engagement by asking them to propose a solution, but they very quickly spun out and began incanting “please just leave” and exclaiming that they “just felt so uncomfortable.” I hadn’t raised my voice or said anything rude or anything. I was being entirely civil—friendly even—just persistent. I assured them I didn’t want them to feel uncomfortable and asked them to kindly refer me to whoever would feel more comfortable fielding my complaint. They did not do this, and any suggestion that they felt somehow threatened was soon belied by what happened next: they came around the counter, took several aggressive steps towards me and then wrested the Aeropress out of my hands! Whoa! I absolutely was not going to get engaged in a physical altercation over a plastic coffee toy. I know that every person will regard the scenario differently depending on which side of the counter we tend to be on, what kind of day we’re having, etc. but which is worse, having the chutzpah to press for some accountability on a pricing mistake even though it stresses out the frontline workers or accosting a customer after your attempts to repel them with fragility don’t succeed? All I know is that in my experience, one’s odds of having to think about such dilemmas are greatly reduced by not shopping at Roos Roast!"

"I went here early to get some work done and then meet up with a friend to catchup. The coffee shop smelled so good as I was in and the baristas were super friendly and kind. The shop was clean too! I had a honey vanilla matcha latte and it was really good, not too sweet and was pretty to look at. It was made quickly and I sat at the corner to do some work. The music was chill and at a good volume It was a little bit more expensive than i expected but it's ok since I don't buy breakfast all the time."

"Funky, full of character. From the colorful hand-painted signs to the art-covered walls and quirky merch, the vibe here is loud, bold, and full of personality—just like their coffee. I ordered the Long Pull, drinks like a Moka pot brew—strong, intense, and smoky—but also surprisingly fruity and sweet. I also picked up a bag of their Lobster Butter Love beans to take home. I tried to brew with an Aeropress. I tried with several different grind levels and brewing method, and I have to say it turn out to be below average. There is this bitterness that you cannot get rid of. Maybe it's my coffee making skill though. Service is extremely good. The warm welcome makes your day!"

"Last weekend I went into a little cafe near downtown and it felt friendly right away. The place has a relaxed vibe, kinda cozy without trying too hard. I ordered a turkey panini and a latte. The latte was foamy and not too sweet, wich I liked a lot. The sandwich was warm and fresh and hit the spot. Staff said hello and were helpful, service was pretty quick even tho it was busy. Prices seemed fair to me. Overall it’s a nice spot to grab coffee or do a bit of work, I’ll definately come back again."

"Quick stop by and it was delish. Got the breakfast burritos and they had an adobe seasoning which was so yummy. Vanilla latte was great too. My boyfriend got a mocha and he loved it too! If I lived here I would go to RoosRoast all the time. Recommend!"
