from Google"This is a beautiful bar located in the lobby area of the Roost hotel in Detroit. Stopped down to pick up afternoon coffee and some sodas. The bartender on staff was extremely welcoming and nice for only having a small order. Anyway, if you're looking for a sophisticated drink in the area, Bar Rotunda is the place to visit!"
"Fantastic cocktail bar! Great ambience and service. I asked the bartender (Maddy) to make me some random cocktails and she delivered. Great service and quality. Give this lobby bar a try when you’re looking for something special."
"I frequently visit bar rotunda on weekends for the sole purpose of seeing the jazz band. The band is amazing, and having live jazz music inside that upscale classy bar keeps me coming back. The atmosphere is high class and candle lit, and I've yet to find another place like it. I don't know the name of the band, but I know the bassist is named Trevor Lamb, and watching him pluck the stand up bass on a Friday or Saturday night while sipping on a cocktail is a quintessential weekend tradition for me. I cannot emphasize enough this band's talent and contribution to the atmosphere. Unfortunately this review may not be able to stay so positive. I've caught wind that management wants to cut the jazz band down to just two days a month and install a DJ instead. I know for a fact that if there isn't live acoustic jazz to fit the atmosphere of bar Rotunda, I will not be seen there again on a date night and I will have to drop the rating of this review."
"Talk about ruling the roost! The Bar Rotunda at the Roost Hotel in the Book Tower is easily Detroit’s hippest place to sip away the hours in high style. And the food - courtesy of Le Supreme in the far corner of the hotel lobby - is literally off the charts. How good is it? I was in town for business for two days - and I skipped multiple other restaurant suggestions just to come back and sit at this slick, dark wood bar that evokes a mid-century Byzantine watering hole that conjured the roaring ‘20’s whole serving up modern cocktails and a fab menu. I was on a beer trek, but I also sample a few inspired drinks. The staff was incredibly versatile and super engaging, so I had pelas t and information conversations. On the food side, I urge you to try the fried chicken sandwich - a tour de force of crusty batter encapsulating a juicy breast that just aches for the luscious leaves and comforting bun that surround it. Get the fries as a side, which really complete the gastropub experience. The Roost lobby is cavernous but cozy, a perfect blend of upscale accoutrements with divine and even subtle details that make it beyond upscale. And yet it’s all unassuming. Be sure to check out the back alley for some inspiring sculpture and mural work. Such killer ambience. Don’t leave town without hitting this joint. I would valet park or Uber, but there are parking garages in arm’s reach."
"Our bartender, Nick, was fantastic. He not only makes a wonderful drink, but is informed regarding all the great spots in the city and knows how to recommend a good drink. If you go, try his Vieux Carre. If you like a good old-fashioned this is similar. Just delicious!"
