What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Shibam Coffee is an amazing addition to Kalamazoo and it's definitely going to become one of my favorite coffee/tea shops in town. The drinks, desserts, atmosphere, and service all come together to make it a perfect spot for families, friends, or solo study/work time. Drinks: The cold Pistachio Latte, Adeni Tea (Yemeni spiced milk tea), and Dragonfruit Refresher lemonade are three of my favorites so far. The pistachio latte has that rich, sweet, nutty flavor. The Adeni Tea is comforting, creamy, and nicely spiced in the traditional Yemeni style - this is nice if you have a group of people dining in because then you can get the large pot which comes with smaller cups. The Dragonfruit Refresher is sweet and fruity and a little tangy, great when you want something caffeine‑free and definitely refreshing. The Shibam Royal is a very unique drink that combined a mango shake sort of with some strawberry syrup - pretty yummy and very filling. Drink customization options exist and many of the drinks can be made hot, iced, as a latte, or even as a frappe. Kids’ drinks and desserts: My kids loved the kid's hot cocoa (very creamy and frothy and not too hot which is perfect for kids) and the Hershey’s Frappe (i think they actually add ice cream to this to make it more rich), and both disappeared very quickly. The teddy bear mousse cake is very cute, creamy, and tasty – my 6‑year‑old completely gobbled it up. Pastries and honeycomb breads: I really enjoyed the honeycomb breads, especially the Zaatar one with honey and the hazelnut chocolate version. It's a soft, pull‑apart bread with cream cheese filling. Goes great with coffee or tea. In addition, the milk cakes, cheesecakes and croissants all looked very tempting. The dessert case in general is very tempting, with lots of fancy, photo‑worthy options, and the ones I've tried so far have all tasted yummy. Space, service, and vibe: The coffee shop decor is very fancy and beautiful inside with very comfortable seating. Cleanliness is excellent, and the staff were very friendly and helpful, happy to explain the menu and suggest things to try. It works equally well as a grab‑and‑go spot or a place to sit for a while, and the free, really fast Wi‑Fi makes it a great study or work location too."
"Shibam Coffee is an absolute standout and a must-visit spot in Kalamazoo. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a warm atmosphere and genuinely friendly staff who clearly care about what they do. The coffee is exceptional—rich, smooth, and thoughtfully prepared, with flavors you don’t find at typical coffee shops. What really sets Shibam apart is the unique Yemeni coffee experience. The traditional brewing methods and carefully sourced beans create a depth of flavor that’s both bold and refined. Pair that with their delicious pastries and snacks, and it’s the perfect place to relax, study, or catch up with friends. The space itself is clean, inviting, and culturally rich, making it more than just a coffee stop—it’s an experience. Kalamazoo is lucky to have Shibam Coffee, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something authentic and memorable."
"Great new addition to the Kalamazoo area! Amazing interior and the staff was very helpful and welcoming. Coffee was great and the desserts looks awesome. FYI the front door doesn’t have a handle on it right now but the back entrance does :)"
"Yeman coffee just keeps me coming back, it's seriously top-tier. I travel all over the US, and this is some of the best coffee I've had. Plus, the decor is amazing – such a nice spot. I'll always get my coffee here when I'm in Kalamazoo, Mi!"
"Excellent coffee and desserts, nice atmosphere, and great staff! I need to come back when it isn't the holidays and I have room for the milk cakes. We shared the pull apart honey bread with cream cheese inside which was delightful. The Shibam coffee and Turkish coffee were both so good."
