What People Are Saying
from Google"The layout is spacious, the aisles are well-organized, and the convenience of hitting five different "to-do" list items in one building is unbeatable. Whether you’re prepping for a party, fixing a car, or just grabbing dinner, you will leave feeling thankful you didn't have to make three different stops."
"As much as I like store, make sure you look what they are putting in your bags, because an item was not put in my bag, unfortunately I realized that when I got home. Customer service kept me on call 5 times, with no help. Then after I got pretty agitated, they told me to just go back to the store and get my item, I wanted a refund. Check out was pretty pressuring, since the person after me had already put their items on the belt and the cashier started scanning them, so I was like, ok, she must have done her job, but no. I guess you can't really trust anybody to do their job properly. Thanks Kroger Customer service for nothing."
"Extremely upsetting experience at Kroger tonight at approximately 8:30-9:00PM Monday January 19th 2026. There was 1 pod of self-checkout lanes open at this location and 1 attended lane. The open lane was attended by one cashier and no bagger. When I joined the line there was one woman in front of me with a full shopping cart being checked out by the cashier. A line quickly formed behind me with 3 more people joining the queue. When the cashier had finished checking out the woman in front of me, one of her coworker (who had been attending the self-checkout lanes) came by to inform her that there were no baggers available. The cashier and the woman in front of me then had to spend 10+ minutes bagging all of the items. All this time the cashier obviously could not attend to me or the people in line behind me, meaning we waited 10+ minutes in line for 1 person to check out. Just as they finished bagging her items, another coworker (seemingly a manager) came by, stopping the customer as she was trying to leave to apologize that no baggers were available to attend to her as they were all moving carts or working on donuts in the bakery. All in all, I spent approximately 30 minutes in the checkout lane from arriving (with 1 person ahead of me) to leaving with my (bagged by myself and my cashier) groceries. This is not to mention the several people in line behind me, who arrived about a minute after I did and were still waiting after I left. Note that when I left, a bagger had still not arrived, and there didn’t seem to be anyone outside gathering carts when I walked out through the parking lot. I would like to note that the cashier in this scenario was an absolute rockstar and did no wrong, it is the rest of the Kroger Royal Oak staff that failed her. It shouldn’t have to be said, but it unfortunately seems relevant here that the cashier and the customer in front of me were both petite women of color, while the other coworkers they interacted with were white. I’m not sure if that played a role in this interaction, but it did leave another nasty undertone to the whole situation. There are a few preferable scenarios that should have or could have happened here, and I wouldn't need to be leaving this review. 1) The (presumably manager) could have offered to help bag or cashier groceries. 2) The manager could have reassigned one bagger to bagging duty. Rather than having customers wait half an hour to get through the only open checkout lane, they could have reassigned a bagger for 10 minutes and all of the people waiting in this line would have made it through the lane. 3) There should have been staff already available for all needed roles. At the end of the day, the person working self-checkout should not need to also work the job of bagger. The manager should not need to work the job of bagger. The cashier should not need to work the job of bagger. And the baggers should not all need to work other jobs to keep your business running on a slow Monday evening. There has been a trend at this location of lines stretching into the merchandise for the (two maximum) attended lanes and the self checkout pod. The Kroger self-checkout system is a nightmare too buggy to support all of the customers at self-checkout. If you feel the need to cut costs by limiting the number of employees and downsizing the attended checkout to 1 lane, at least make sure you keep enough people around to run that lane efficiently. Again, thank you so much to my cashier, you were brilliant and you should be paid for the two jobs you are currently working. I’m sorry your coworkers lacked empathy and the management at your store is failing you."
"This is the best Kroger in the area. Always clean. Sometimes the checkout lines get backed up during the busy times. The best employee there is Stephen, who usually is working in the self-checkout areas. He's always on the ball. I hope Kroger gives that man a raise because you can't find a more helpful worker than him."
"We popped in today for some ingredients for a couple holiday cocktails were making for a party this weekend. It was rather big order so we got in the checkout line and our cashier was Diamond. Diamond wise the epitome of excellence in customer service. She was incredibly efficient, kind, professional, and had a fantastic attitude. She even ran over to a neighboring checkout stand to get a specific bag for our alcohol. It’s not every day that you find someone who so exemplifies excellent customer service. Thanks Diamond!!"
