"Had dinner last night. Fabulous! Definitely lived up to the hype! As a chef and restaurant owner we can’t help but notice every detail of a place. From the moment we walked in and were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess and escorted to our waiting table every part of the experience was perfect. Our server was fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable. The cocktails were extremely well crafted, my Mezcal drink was very well done, most places can’t balance Mezcal and they did it perfectly. The food was creative, and out of this world good. If I had to ding anything the Galette, while the pastry was really good, the filling didn’t rise to the level of all the other dishes, but still very good. The entire experience was memorable, we travel and eat all over the world and this one goes down as one of the very best! Tried to make reservations for the next 2 nights and they were booked. Make reservations in advance and go there!"

"Best food I've eaten in Traverse City, and I've lived here year round for eight years. Can't believe I've not eaten here before. Prices are high, but the food they prepare is sublime. Service is outstanding. Only negative was the nose level. Very hard to converse around the table, just very loud. With tables that close together, I'm not sure how to remedy, but it would be perfect if they could get that under control. The corn dog was a shocker. Have to taste it to believe how fantastic it is. The fried chicken? I could eat that as my meal. The Salmon entree was both beautifully presented and delicious. Cooked perfectly. Chocolate cake was moist. The key lime pie was my favorite dessert, with the most wonderfully tiny flame-kissed merangue kisses on top. I split it, but would have been happy to eat that entire miniature pie. Expensive, but I recommend as highly as i possibly can!"

"Nice to try once. I've been to a large portion of our artisan restaurants in the grand traverse region and was very excited to finally try Modern Bird. I decided to take my mom for her birthday since she's been wanting to go for a while. We both came to the same consensus. The food was pretty decent but didn't wow us, prices were high, the servers were pushy/snooty and the atmosphere was crowded, loud and they kept messing with the lights which was annoying. We were the first guests in the restaurant (5pm reservation) that day but they took a very long time to come take our order. It was apparent that the servers only wanted catered to larger tables. It wasn't all bad. They kept our water glasses full, never received refills on our other drinks. The fish was interesting and had good flavor, my steak was cooked perfectly but lacked flavor. The best part of the meal by far was the cake. It structurally looked beautiful, was unique and taste amazing. All in all, I think it's a good place to recommend for tourists."

"Unbelievable experience and incredible food. The curry carrot dish and halibut were by far our favorite dishes, but truly, everything is incredible. By far the best meal I’ve ever had. My only complaint is the noise. The high ceilings and small space make the noise level so loud you can barely hear each other. This will be a new tradition for us to come here every time we visit. Well worth the money - it’s pretty much on par with other nice restaurants in the area."
