What People Are Saying
from Google"There aren't a lot of swoon-worthy upscale restaurants in Duluth. Alto Pino is one of them. Sit at the full-service bar (the stools and bar height are actually comfortable!) for a view of the kitchen and the meticulous care that goes into each mouthful. The Mediterranean-focused menu incorporated local ingredients like rhubarb, wild rice and fresh herbs. We swooned our way through the chard dolmades, thumbelina carrots, lamb skewers, grilled halloumi, Iberian pork, and olive oil cake. Attentive and well-informed staff. Beautiful downtown space, open and airy without being too noisy. Note for the fragrance-sensitive: they use scented laundry products on the cloth napkins, but will graciously provide an alternative upon request. The beautiful restrooms feature some kind of scented oil, but not the harsh "public restroom" air fresheners."
"The bartender was extremely helpful and knew what she was talking about. Food and wine recommendations were spot on. 10/10 would be back if I lived anywhere nearby. The small kitchen staff were very hard to keep everyone fed and happy. Extremely satisfied with this place."
"Alto Pino makes me so happy! I've been there many times, and I love every part of the menu. Service has been great; waitstaff and bartenders have given solid advice about combinations of dishes to share, portion sizes, and ideas for drinks and wine. It's expensive by Duluth standards, but it's also fresh and well prepared, and the environment feels nice enough for a special occasion without being intimidating or pretentious. Truly food-centered and unique restaurants are too rare everyplace, and even more rare in Duluth. The corporate or local chains of "concept" places (ahem Duluth Grill), or the endless midwestern pub menus, get tiresome. This place is a gem, I highly recommend."
"One of the best meals I've ever had in Duluth. Great service, good recommendations. Menu had plenty of options but not so many that it was overwhelming. Great NA cocktails options as well. We'll definitely be back!"
"We visited Alto Pino for our 5th anniversary, which coincidentally fell on their first anniversary! Owner Lauren was easy to communicate with for our reservation ahead of time. Complimentary bubbles were a great way to start the evening. We had the roasted red pepper dip, special board with local cheese, fig and duck with homemade crackers, lamb skewers and special butternut squash ravioli in homemade pasta. Everything was delicious! Lauren sent us home with dessert which was very appreciated! Old fashioned and peach ginger cocktail were lovely as well. Would definitely recommend for a date night or special occasion."
