What People Are Saying

from Google

"The quality of the coffee is rich. I have perceived that this shop uses fresh speciality coffee beans, and likely ground while pulled or right before. I can taste the nuances and flavor of my espresso. It has a very rich flavor profile. This is highly contrasted with other coffee shops around town, like your proverbial Starbucks, or Dunkin Donuts. However, there seems to be a hit or miss on asking for names for drinks. Sometimes they ask sometimes they don't. This could just be a retail training issue, and likely will grow with experience. Also, the shop is often crowded but it is encouraged to take your drink with you in the library, as long as you are careful. I am enjoying my experience!"

"In many ways, the work of a critic is very easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the “new.” The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends. Today, I experienced something new: An extraordinary Java Chip Frappe, Cold Brew and Coffee Cake from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions about fine coffee is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core. In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Sean Brown’s famous motto, “Anyone can brew.” But I realize — only now do I truly understand — what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist; but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the geniuses now brewing coffee at Bookmark, who are, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest coffee connoisseurs in Missouri. I will be returning to Bookmark Café soon, hungry and thirsty for more."

"its convenient during exam season but the line is often long, the drinks i've had taste watered down, and the prices are pretty high especially for the prepackaged stuff or if you cant have dairy."
