from Google"I absolutely adore City Market KC! The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and filled with charming local vibes that make you feel right at home. The flea market is a treasure trove of unique finds, perfect for anyone who loves a good hunt for hidden gems. When you need a break, there are plenty of delightful cafes and restaurants offering delicious treats to satisfy any craving. Plus, the selection of fresh local fruits and vegetables is top-notch, ensuring you can enjoy the best produce the area has to offer. It’s a fantastic place to spend a day exploring and soaking in the local culture!"
"As a native Kansas Citian, this iconic area is a huge space with permanent stores and eateries surrounding the stall area. In the spring, summer and fall vendors sell food, crafts and more. Fresh produce, baked goods, plants, flowers and more are sold, mainly on Saturday mornings to throngs of visitors. This particular visit was in mid-December during a beautiful mild Sunday. This city market has a long history in Kansas City, and now also houses the Steamboat Arabia Museum, a space dedicated to a steamboat that was found in a field near the river by a farmer. It was excavated carefully and reassembled here. It was amazingly intact since being discovered in fertile soil. They found it full of cargo, including preserved food, sets of china, clothing and much, much more. The huge paddle wheel was in tact and now is mounted and churns water in the front windows."
"It’s a shopping and restaurant combined area. 2 hour Free parking. The steamboat museum is attached to the main hall. Maybe it was winter and around the holiday time so not many people at the Market. Many different cuisine and fresh grocery stores. All are small and have limited seatings. We visited a comic store, fashion store, candy store etc. It’s a cool spot to stop by. People are nice."
"Great place to wander around, people watch, eat from a wide variety restaurants and of course, buy fruits and vegetables. The pictures are from our visit last weekend and the weekend before. We've eaten at two of the restaurants, the first being The Hungry Hatch and the second being the Italian Deli. Both were very good! The fresh produce at the market is crazy fresh and crazy inexpensive. Don't forget to grab a bag or two of pork rinds from Norm's Gourmet Snacks. There are something like 20 or 25 different flavors and they are super fresh. Parking can be a little bit sketchy if you go at the busier times so we like to park at around 10th and Main and ride the street car in. It just adds a little adventure to our visits and it's much less stressful with the cramped streets and parking lots. I highly recommend that you check it out for its huge variety of products, produce, eateries and diverse people."
"Very difficult to find parking here and when we did find a spot on the street, it was overpriced. Not sure why dogs aren't allowed in the covered market areas. There are squirrels and pigeons everywhere! We brought our small dog in an enclosed dog stroller and that wasn't an issue but it just doesn't make sense. Tons of vendors selling produce and unique items, several selling beautiful floral bouquets."
