What People Are Saying
from Google"The Nautical Whimsey is located in downtown Tupelo along Main Street. This spot serves comforting Italian food with very generous portions and a decent bar selection. THE FOOD ⭐️ The Highlight: The Tiramisu was the star of the evening—moist, semi-sweet, and rich. A tasty end to the meal. 🧀 Starters: The freshly fired Cheese Bread was another win, topped with fluffy, warm cheese. A comforting start. 🍝 The Entrees: The portion sizes for the Gnocchi, Lasagna, and Fettuccine Alfredo were enormous. You get a massive amount of food for the price. • Note: The execution didn't match the size. There were issues with texture and flavor depth across the main dishes. For example, the Fettuccine Alfredo sauce was watery and bland rather than creamy and rich. SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE The dining area has a homey, casual feel. The hostess and server were patient, and the waitress immediately swapped out a glass of red wine that had oxidized, which was appreciated. PARKING Plenty of streetside parking is available. OVERALL The Nautical Whimsey provides a large amount of food for the cost. It is a solid choice if you need to feed hungry teenagers who value quantity over culinary precision, but foodies looking for high-quality Italian might want to look elsewhere."
"Oh man, you have to check out this amazing Italian place! The atmosphere inside is so cozy and welcoming, it really makes you feel right at home. Everyone working there is super friendly and genuinely happy to help. And the food? Seriously, it's delicious and they give you such generous portions!"
"This place seemed to be a good place to try when visiting tupelo. I love Italian. Few things id like to say though. 1. It wasn't busy when we went and still took 30 minutes to get our food. Our server was sub par. 2. The food was smothered in too much cheese and took away the flavor. I got the chicken manicotti 3. The other person I went with ordered the very expensive filet mignon. It was over cooked and had an awful sauce on it. Suggestion to the company: read your reviews. Listen to your customers as they help keep you open. Stay on the cooks tails about time management and take that awful sauce off of that steak. Everyone knows a good steak doesn't need sauce anyways. It tastes sour and ruins it! The best thing I ate was the crab cakes but even still there were so many peppers in it for some reason... Sincerely, Maddie."
"We were passing through and I found this place on Google when we were about 2 hours away. So I had plenty of time to look at the reviews and make sure this place was worth the stop especially with so many other eateries around. When we pulled into town we were very confident we made the right choice because most of the restaurants were either empty or half empty but this one was full and we were third on the waiting list. The service was great and I have absolutely nothing bad to say about our server. The food however was sub par. My son got the spaghetti and meatballs and I understand that a big ole meatball gives a great shock value but it was dry as can be. I've never seen a meatball that my son wouldn't eat, if I thought it was a one off I would have mentioned something to the server but it's not exactly something you are going to remake fresh. The second issue was with the "market price" on the filet mignon. Some restaurants, this being one of them are getting a little too frivolous with the use of market price. Market price should be reserved for things that are caught fresh that morning not meat that only fluctuates a few cents either way weekly. I will fully take the blame on this one but I ordered the 12 oz filet and assumed the market price would be reasonable as was the rest of the menu but to my shock when the bill came the filet was $68.00 (no salad) this only included a baked potato. I almost could have justified my filet being 68.00 if it had not been the most bland filet I'd ever had in my life. It has a sweet sauce on it that completely overwhelmed the unseasoned steak. Sweet sauce should only be used with steaks with bold/salty flavor. This steak had zero flavor. Again if I thought this was an issue that could be fixed by sending it back I would have. But with all this being said I'm not going to get on here and give a bunch of one star ratings just because I had a bad experience. I was just passing through and my experience may have been a one-off. The locals seem to love it, the place was packed and the service was great. So there's absolutely no reason not to try this place out and see for yourself, I just recommend you ask about the market price before ordering 😂."
"First 2 trips were amazing, 3rd today was the nastiest food I've gotten from a restaurant. Fillet tasted horrible, meat balls were straight pepper, chicken in the alfredo was rock hard. Took 2 hours to get food on the table on a Thursday night. Managers refused to fix or comp any meal ordered. Left every entree ordered on table."
