from Google & Yelp"Stopped in on my way through! Oh my goodness is all I can say! The crème Brulé was amazing ! The lemon bars were phenomenal and the eclairs are out of this world! I was helped by Grace … She was amazing and went above and beyond offering a wondering conversation! I will definitely be returning and bringing friends! Thanks for such a wonderful experience!"
"My bf and I love Amelie’s. My mom used to bring lemon bars home from the Noda location whenever she went to the opera or a play/musical. Lately we have been getting the cookie butter cheesecake which is really good, my dog sees the Amelie box and begs for her lil’ bites of goodness 😂. I also like the brownie cheesecake tart, the patè sugar crust (I think is what it’s called) gives it that lil extra flavor/crunch. We had the maple sugar loaf recently and it was nice but not really special. The buttercream icing cake ((strawberry petit gateaux)) with the strawberry jam has been my least favorite… we’ve got it twice now and both times it’s been on the dry side. It needs more jam and less icing imo. The chocolate petit gateaux is really chocolatey and moist. When summer rolls out we get the strawberry cheesecake. I’ve had a salad here that was good but no longer on the menu, wish they’d add more salads. Staff has always been really nice to us and very helpful. Wish this location stayed open later though and had more peanut butter items on the menu. The Oreo peanut butter pie is good I just wish it didn’t have the Oreo part lol."
"Warm chocolate drink, frozen Napoleon, poor service. Came in for a hot chocolate and a Napoleon. The Napoleon was frozen solid, resembling a frozen ice cream cake. Took it to the front and was told I need to wait about 10 minutes for it to defrost. After repeating what I was told, I was then offered a replacement, so I asked for an almond croissant. I was given something similar to an almond cake that was not good, nor fresh (photo below). I get things happen, but the response I recieved made me feel like serving frozen pastries was closer to the norm. The hot chocolate tasted ok, but it was warm at best. Disappointing all around, and staff responded as if I was causing an inconvenience. Will not be coming back."
"I work remotely and a few times per month, I go out to work at local coffee shops. Summit off Providence road is my favorite however, Amelie's has such a nice selection of French Pastries. My ex-wife owns a French Pastry shop out west and her Napoleon pastry is amazing. So, each time that visit Amelie's located at the Park Road shopping center I am continue to be amazed whether they are busy or slow how long it takes to get a cup of coffee. I have worked in technology for most of my life however, I spent a fair amount of time bartending and waiting tables. Having said this for context, I find their visually appealing pastries average tasting at best. My Napoleon deserve completely frozen and no one even asked me if I would like to have it heated up. I have lived in different cities in the US and have found similar places where the owners have had the business for many years and after a while drop the ball because the figure regardless of quality or service most people cannot tell the difference. As for me, this will be one of the very last times that I visit here. The food is one thing, the atmosphere is also another thing but lackluster service is inexcusable. My final thoughts and recommendation is this. Have one dedicated person to hand drip coffee orders and another handling the fancy coffee drinks and hiring older and more mature people at the counter or at the very least train the youngsters on what service and value mean. Otherwise, this business will not last and others who visit there will eventually open our own coffee shops and each their lunch before long."
"Picked up a French toast platter to go over the weekend, but sadly it was missing the platter part (eggs and bacon). At least the star of the show was there, and the French toast was very good. It had that prominent eggy custard on it, which is my preference. When I called the next day about the missing items they remedied the error right away. So I’m still a fan! I’ve also recently tried a couple of the fall seasonal items - cookie butter cheesecake and fall salad with sweet potatoes, goat cheese, and pecans. Both were delightful. This review is an ode to the smoked salmon tartine here. I love that they use avocado spread instead of the usual cream cheese. I like to get the half size and sub out the baguette for sourdough, which is so good and made in house. Comes with a fair amount of salmon and zippy pickled onions. I add an egg at home, everything bagel seasoning, and a drizzle of good balsalmic vinegar. It’s chef’s kiss."
