What People Are Saying

from Google

"Stopped in to check it out, not a big selection but good looking sweets. Had a couple good large cookies. Had hoped for some breads/loaves or rolls or focaccia, but they seem to focus on treats. Counter person said every other day they have different savory croissants (but not the day I visited). A strong focus on coffee, seemed more of a coffee shop with a few bakery offerings."

"NEVER AGAIN! WHISK & RYE DURHAM IS A DANGER TO SOCIETY! I went to the Whisk & Rye storefront on University Drive just looking for a peaceful morning. I ordered one of their "specialty" savory croissants—I think it was the Hatch Chili or maybe the Roasted Garlic and Artichoke one. I took one bite, and instead of a "flaky, buttery crunch," the entire pastry EXPLODED with the force of a tectonic shift! Flakes of North Carolina-milled flour hit the ceiling like shrapnel. The cream cheese filling didn't just leak—it launched at terminal velocity, coating my entire face and half the outdoor seating area. I looked like I’d been caught in a dairy-based blizzard. The worst part? A barista just looked at me over their Fireball Latte and said, "Yeah, the aggressive geometry of the laminations does that sometimes". They didn't even offer me a napkin! They just pointed to their neon sign and told me the explosion was "artistic expression". I left covered in crumbs and confusion, smelling like butter and betrayal. My car still has a piece of vegan chocolate croissant stuck to the dashboard from the secondary blast. If you want a pastry that stays in one piece, STAY AWAY! This place isn't a bakery; it's an edible demolition site!"

"Super tasty! I had an iced vanilla latte with macadamia milk and it was unlike any latte I've ever had. So very tasty! And the barista taking my order was super nice and helpful, he let me try some of the macadamia milk before committing. These people care about their craft🫶"

"I stumble across this shop mid-Saturday. I was greeted by the most pleasant clerk that I’ve seen in awhile. He maintained a smile and patience while I made up my mind. I think coming earlier will present more options. I chose a cinnamon bun that was tough and dry on the outer ring. But the inside was softer. It was really big and a good value. I ate half there and ate the rest later. It was then that I discovered that it taste better warmed up. There is limited seating inside;however there is cozy, quiet seating outside—perfect for relaxing or reading a book."
