"Usually 5-Star - Today I went to Scheel’s to purchase the Scheel’s branded neoprene vests I prefer for my dogs—one large and one extra large. I buy the same ones, year after year. Unfortunately, both vests in the sizes I needed had noticeable dog hair inside them (gross). I assumed they had been previously purchased and returned. It’s way below -0° outside so my shorthaired dogs have to have them, immediately. I brought the two items to customer service to ask whether a discount might be available, since I would need to clean and likely wash them before use. An inconvenience for me as a shopper. The customer service associate was super nice and polite and suggested removing the hair with a lint brush, which she did, but my question about a discount due to potential smells my dogs might detect was dismissed as if it were I were joking. That left me feeling undervalued as a customer. I purchased them, full price anyways. Dear Scheel’s If customers pay full price—especially your premium pricing—they expect merchandise to be NEW and unused, not something that feels comparable to a used item purchased from someplace like a thrift store. Super frustrating. I’ve been a loyal Minot Scheel’s customer since the day they opened in Dakota Square Mall for many, many years and have spent a considerable amount time and money there, including on firearms/accessories, dog supplies, my favorite Kuhl clothing, and winter coats for my family. Even when I knew I could find the same items less expensive elsewhere. While the staff is generally friendly, this experience was disappointing. At this point, I’m unsure whether I’ll return to Scheels."

"My first experience in Scheels. Gotta say I really enjoyed this store. I am from Texas so we have Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s. There’s definitely a new competitor paving their way south and I’m looking forward to their arrival in the Austin, TX area. *Update* I plan on attending the Grand Opening in Cedar Park. Looking forward to it!!"

"I have never heard of this store much less been in one. It was by far the best customer service I have ever experienced. I counted how many employees greeted me and how many asked if they could help, 14. There is a real sense of pride in the employees here. I was overwhelmed with the way they market their merchandise. Shelves are stocked, it is orderly and clean! Not one shelve in disarray. My son asked me to pick up a pair of Nikes, who knew there were 200 pairs! I could not quit looking at this store, it is simply amazing and I wish they would expand into Canada and out west. They set the standard in customer service, quality and merchandising."

"Its kinda like a blend of dicks sporting goods and academy sports and outdoors, but with higher end goods, though sadly, with that means higher end prices. Which somewhat can be argued cause of the quality of most goods, although it doesn't have to be everything. There's so many enclosed store locations in this store that it was almost like a mini mall, within the mall it was located in. I was impressed with all they cared about in the location. It sure can attract many patreons, be it guns, Legos, or even clothes."
