from Google"Love this! So good for Kearney. A great place to donate gently used books. I found so many great books for my kiddo. Big fan! They even offered to let our book club meet there! Highly recommend!"
"A Welcoming Oasis: The Open Book in Kearney I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Open Book in Kearney, and it's truly a unique spot. Conveniently located right across the street from the UNK campus and near Nick's Gyros, it's incredibly easy to find. This isn't just a place to buy books; it's clearly designed to be a comfortable environment where you can relax and immerse yourself in reading. What's really interesting is that their diverse and ever-changing collection of used and vintage books is sourced directly from community donations. This model means you never know what treasures you'll find, making every visit a fresh discovery. Despite being donation-based, the pricing remains remarkably fair and accessible. The heart of this place is truly its people. It's run by the awesome Carol, Kael, and Amy (who also bakes those fantastic goods!), along with Nathan. They are all clearly dedicated to creating a special atmosphere. Adding significantly to the welcoming vibe, there's a small kitchen area offering freshly baked goods, perfectly complemented by the availability of coffee and tea. For convenience, a restroom is also on-site, making it easy to settle in for a longer visit. It's evident that considerable effort has gone into creating such an engaging and inviting space. For anyone in Kearney looking for a distinct bookstore experience with a strong local connection, delightful treats, comfortable amenities, and an easy-to-find location, The Open Book is definitely worth exploring."
"While going for a walk by the UNK campus, we stopped for coffee at the nearby coffee shop and took a detour to this new book store. Quaint and peaceful, me and my partner were able to explore freely to both our own interests while relaxing in the nice area. It is a little tucked away, and took a bit to find but thier selection was immense and thier staff was incredibly friendly. Wholly intended to go back soon."
"What a sweet spot, right down from Barista's coffee shop, full of amazing books and cozy furniture. You can even work on a puzzle while you peruse. The Open Book fills the void that Hastings left when it closed years ago! Plus the ladies who own the place and work there are genuine badasses."
