What People Are Saying
from Google"I was really looking forward to this experience. Unfortunately, it did not meet expectations. Firstly, the dining space and menu options are huge. Our server was great, knowledgeable, and offered detailed suggestions. The food, however, was very underwhelming. The gator bites were dripping with grease and about 1/3 of the portion was pure breading. Contrary, the mozzarella sticks were both generously sized and paired nicely with their marinara sauce. For entrées, we sampled the chicken fettuccine and, one of their House Specialties, the Crescent City Chicken. I opted for hush puppies as a side instead of the creamed corn. Again, I was highly disappointed. The hush puppies were extremely dry and dense. I was barely able to manage one bite. Thankfully, they were accommodating in allowing me to substitute them for a side of rice. That was definitely the way to go as the standard bottom layer of fried potatoes dulls the overall flavor of the dish. My suggestion is to swap the potatoes for rice and choose an alternative side that better complements your flavor palette. The chicken fettuccine was perfectly adequate, but nothing special. All in all, I'm sure that there are plenty of other menu options that would have made this a better experience. It might be worth a return visit sometime down the road."
"Found this great restaurant passing through Lincoln. Its in amongst a bunch of other non chain restaurants in the Haymarket area of the city. The atmosphere is very up beat and the servers and restaurant staff do a great job. The food is very flavorful and the portions are pretty big. They also have good drink deals for most nights of the week."
"I eat dinner here whenever I happen to get to Lincoln. The inside is decorated with vintage signs and license plates. I had the shrimp creole on my most recent visit, and overall it was good. My only complaint would be there wasn't enough rice for the volume of sauce on the plate. I am used to at least 1:1 ratio of sauce to rice. The staff was attentive despite the restaurant being completely full. It is hard to find authentic Cajun/creole food outside of Louisiana, so I will continue going to Buzzard Billy's."
"Stopped for lunch while visiting Lincoln for a show. The checkout from the hotel was at 11am, which is exactly when this place opens and it happened to be right across the street. The staff was very friendly and patient with my questions about their hush puppies and fried gator. We sat out on the patio, which quickly filled up on a nice summer day. The food (buffalo burger with fries and gator po’boy with hush puppies) was very good. I’d say maybe a touch heavy on pickles and red onion, but that’s a matter of personal preference and both can easily be removed. Would definitely visit again."
"First time ever and the food was so delicious! Got the Cajun Cowboy Burger, the armadillo eggs, Ranchers Poutine, and a few other things. It was all so delicious! Definitely will be back the next time Im in Lincoln!"
