What People Are Saying
from Google"Went here for lunch on a Friday. It wasn't overly busy at the time we went, so we were seated immediately (had a party of 6). The staff were all friendly and helpful that we encountered. The chips and salsa are great! Not your standard tortilla chips and canned salsa. The salsa was more like Pico in that it had a lot of chunks of tomato, pepper, and onion in it rather than being a strictly smooth salsa. The chips had flavoring on them (that's the best way I can describe them) that wasn't quite a taco flavor, but they weren't plain chips like most restaurants serve. Bought a bag of chips and container of salsa to take home so my family could try them (we don't live in Nebraska). Tico's has been my mother's favorite places to eat in Lincoln since the late 70's when one of my sisters was in college there. So at age 89, we had to take her back there since we were in town. Her favorite dish has always been the Ticorito. And of course she didn't branch out to try anything else. Three of our party ordered them, so obviously, it's a fan favorite. I decided to try the make your own bowl option. So many choices of meats, vegetables, cheese it was hard to decide what all to try. My choices worked great together, but you can truly make it to suit your own tastes. Price was in line with any other restaurant of this type. I think all of our meals were between $10-$15, and definitely no more than that. Parking around the area was a little bit of an issue, but mainly due to road construction going on. Will definitely be back if I get the chance!!"
"Good margaritas Great fried beans! Had the chili rellenos. Came with 2 small chilies. Breading was pretty thick and really couldn't define the whole pepper. Pork chili verde burrito was big and good! Free chips and salsa. The hot was tasty but was pretty mild and the mild was really mild! Tierra was our server and was fantastic! Pretty atmosphere inside!"
"Weirdest restaurant experience ever. We got there around 6:55pm- noticed they closed at 8pm. Saw other people in front of us who were just being seated, so did not think time would be an issue. Received chips and salsa fairly fast. The salsa tasted more like marinara sauce. It was bad. While looking at the menu I had a feeling this was more like Tex mex food and definitely not authentic. Which is fine. Ordered some margaritas to begin with. We did not get our drinks until about 7:30pm. I asked for a side of guacamole- didn’t get it until 7:45pm. Which was flavorless and terrible :( No one ever came by to ask what we wanted to order for food. We ended up online ordering at another food place while we were there! I’ve always wanted to eat at Ticos- this was my first time there. Interestingly enough- I come and still didn’t even try Ticos."
"This rating is based off my first and only visit, so I'll update if I try it again. Service wasn't bad, the place was pretty busy when we arrived so that's not a huge deal. I got the fish tacos and I didn't think they tasted the best. The chips, salsa and cheese dip was legit though. The house margaritas were delicious and the prices weren't bad. Overall, I'd recommend it, but be cautious if you get the fish tacos. All the other food looked really good."
"Iconic restaurant in Lincoln since 1976. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Menu includes all the great Mexican dishes."
