"7/27/24: I've been to the Co-op in Hanover, it always has beautiful fresh produce, smoked wild caught salmon for my lunches, amazing cheeses ... 5/14/2024: I've gone shopping at the Hanover Co-op several times and I am always impressed by how fresh the fruit, vegetables and mushrooms are; they have unusual mushrooms like Lion's Maine which is really wonderful. They have a large selection of beautiful local meats. They have great Indian sauces. 2/17/24 visit: we bought delicious, fresh sushi and we had it for lunch in a nice, clean part of the store set-up for eating. They have an indoor and outdoor eating area, no frills but much appreciated! The cheese selection is spectacular! We bought some basics because the prices are so good. We bought local Robie farms sausage which was delicious. They had an amazing selection of high end Asian products, some of the nicest fish sauce I have ever seen .. great store! Excellent selection of everything; produce is huge with beautiful fruits and vegetables! Sushi!!!! So fresh and it looked amazing! Beautiful meats and a large local selection. Local honey; a shelf of local raw honey choices! And everything else that you would expect, gluten free breads and pizzas in the freezer, a whole row of pre-made foods and deserts which is really nice ... Excellent choices for Asian ingredients which I was excited to get my favorite Nishiki rice! All this and a bag of chips ... a little film industry humor, actually, the prices are excellent! Clean store. friendly staff! Free paper bags!!!"

"Dear Co-Op Management, I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the treatment I received at your Hanover location today. My husband and I were purchasing beer, and while he presented his U.S. driver’s license, I showed my valid Kazakhstani national ID, which includes an English translation and clearly states my date of birth. I am 26 years old, and I have never had issues using this ID elsewhere in the United States. However, the cashier refused to accept my ID without any clear explanation. What made the experience especially upsetting was that she proceeded to address my husband instead of me — apologizing to him for “not wanting to lose her job because of us.” I was completely ignored during the interaction, as if I were not part of the conversation or not a full person. This behavior felt humiliating, disrespectful, and discriminatory. I understand that employees must follow rules when verifying age for alcohol purchases, but this was not about the policy — it was about the attitude and the way I, as a foreign customer, was made to feel unwelcome. I would like to know: • What forms of foreign ID are officially accepted at your stores? • How do you train your employees to handle situations involving international customers? I hope you take this complaint seriously and review both your policies and employee conduct. I am open to further discussion if needed. Sincerely, Dameli"

"I’ve been a member since 1994. It keeps going down hill and fast! So many poor choices. They don’t care about their staff so they keep getting worse people because they’ve drained all the good people. So good luck getting customer service! I wish the coop would return to respecting people."

"Great choice of food, with healthy and organic choices. This location also offers an eat-in cafe. All this in "whole foods" style and price range."

"No input of the cashiers? Lemme do it. I had a mixed experience during my recent visit to this grocery store. While the selection was good, I found the cashier’s overly instructional approach to be unnecessary and somewhat condescending. It felt like there was a lack of trust in my ability to navigate the checkout process. They obviously treated me as ignorant to check out in a US grocery store, based on my Asian look. I would appreciate if staff could provide assistance without being overly didactic."

"I am a lifelong co-op fan, everything from stores like REI (who should accept their workers ' union, btw) to supermarkets like this one. But this co-op is..."
