What People Are Saying
from Google"We went to the Portsmouth Gas Light for dinner and chose the pizza place downstairs. The pizzas were delicious and a great size, and the service was really good. We also tried some food upstairs, but it didn’t quite convince us the same way. Overall, the downstairs pizza spot is definitely worth a visit!"
"Pretty place right in the middle of everything. Inside was nice and cool on a hot day and inviting . Waitress was nice. Food was good but nothing great. My husband enjoyed his burger and beer. I got a chicken wrap with coleslaw and a raspberry lime rickey. Wrap was basic, nothing special. Coleslaw lacked flavor and it seemed like the raspberry lime rickey was missing the raspberry puree. It was very tart. Prices on receipt do not match menu prices. Be careful for that if on a budget. Overall, it was a decent place to cool down but nothing I would travel to visit again."
"Cute place and had live music the night of my visit. Very cozy vibes. Food was really good and service was friendly. Recommend the crab cakes!"
"Awesome lunch! They had Extra special discount prices for Father's Day, a dog friendly patio, and a multi-option dining experience. We ate outside on the dog friendly patio bar area for a Sunday lunch, but there's a pizza bar in the basement, a pub inside, and a dance club at night upstairs. Very cool spot. The vegetarian BRAAT sandwich was awesome with an ample portion of fries! The NiteLite lager was also really good. Hubby enjoyed the cheese burger. Parking is right next to the building. Paid meter lot or free street parking. Only 5 minutes from rt95. Service is speedy and friendly. We will be 100% back next time we are in town!"
"Gas Light in Portsmouth, NH, offers a lively and inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying a casual meal or drinks with friends. The exposed brick and wood-fired stone oven create a cozy yet energetic vibe that captures the essence of downtown Portsmouth. I was impressed by the attentive and friendly service, with bartenders who were attentive without being intrusive. The menu features crowd-pleasers like wood-fired pizzas, including their specialty Gaslight pizza, which had a pleasantly crispy crust and flavorful toppings. The chicken wings were perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, making them an excellent starter. I enjoyed the warmth and vibrant feel of the pub setting, which also offers live entertainment and a dog-friendly patio—a great spot if you're visiting with pets. Prices felt fair given the generous portions and quality. While some reviews mention occasional kitchen delays or food inconsistencies, my experience was smooth and satisfying. It’s a nice spot to unwind after a day exploring Portsmouth, with good drink options and a welcoming ambiance. I would recommend Gas Light if you’re looking for a lively, local dining experience with solid pub fare and good company. The one downside might be the busier times when service can slow, but overall it’s a dependable choice for casual dining in the neighborhood."
