What People Are Saying
from Google"This place was absolutely delicious! The staff are very kind and helpful! We tried a medialuna with ham and cheese, savory with a touch of sweetness! In addition we had a savory medialuna and a tostado, delicious as well! As soon as we got our lattes to my surprise one came with an image of a dog and was so cute it made my day! The latte was absolutely delicious, will be going again!"
"My husband was in the mood for a coffee date ("with ambiance and vibes," he insisted), and a quick online search brought us to the doors of Cafe Baires. There's a lot going for this cafe. For one, the drinks are pretty nice. We had small misgivings with our drinks. My husband found his chai latte to be lukewarm, and I wished my strawberry matcha were just a tad sweeter. But I was impressed by the way they took the time to muddle the strawberry blend into the cup and properly whisk the matcha. Secondly, the inside is nothing like you'd expect from the outside. There's a small seating space on the ground floor, but once you go up the stairs in the back and go down a small hallway, the space suddenly opens up to a cavernous room. It was a little quirky, a total surprise, and added to the charm of this local cafe. We came for the drinks, but I was blown away by the empanadas. They're warmed up in a toaster upon ordering, creating a beautifully crunchy exterior that nicely contrasted the tender, aromatic ground beef inside. I went so bananas for this that I sent my husband back to the register for another one while we were still midway through the first. The ham and cheese empanada was a close second, with the same fresh crunch on the outside and an impressive cheese pull. Service is just lovely. If you order comestibles, they'll bring it to your table. We were torn between two, so much that we asked our barista which she preferred. She certainly didn't lead us astray with her recommendation, but minutes later, she brought us the other one for free. "Because you wanted to try it," she said with a smile. Your options for parking in this area is limited to whatever paid metered spots you can find. Depending on what day and time you're in the area, spots can be a little tougher to come by, but I've never had to search longer than five minutes."
"Best coffee shop in Hackensack... and in north Jersey overall! My favorite savory item of everything I've tried is the focaccia! That crunch of the crust is soooo satisfying--crispy and airy! If you love cheese you have to try it. Also love the onion & cheese empanadas. They bake everything in-house and it's all very reasonably price--it almost feels like a steal. They use real strawberries in their strawberry matcha. My boyfriend who is a (retired) coffee snob says they really know how to do their coffee. If it looks like they ran out of seating, they have more in the back area with a really beautiful high ceiling. Definitely worth visiting!"
"I’ve had flat white here and it was very tasty. Not burnt coffee beans like the chain coffee shops have. And definitely this is not a fake café like in the rest of NJ. They serve good quality coffee. Employees are friendly. And prices are reasonable."
"This is a lovely place to grab some coffee and a simple yet delicious breakfast. The coffee was great, it came with the right amount of caffeine and even a detailed art imprint. For breakfast we got media luna con jamon y queso, dos tostadas, and una empanada de carne, y un alfajor. The food was tasty and had the texture of being freshly made. Although it looked small and simple, it definitely filled us up. Would recommend to anyone and the price is budget friendly!"
