"As soon as I walked into the coffee shop, the assistant manager spoke to me very rudely and told me to leave without giving any explanation. When I asked why, he finally said there was a private event. I pointed out that there was no signage anywhere indicating the shop was closed, and instead of communicating clearly, he became even more dismissive. Throughout the interaction, he repeatedly interrupted me, raised his voice, and accused me of being rude when I was simply trying to understand what was happening. He also refused to provide owner or management contact information and chose to escalate rather than speak professionally. I am mixed-race Chinese-Hispanic, and given the current political climate, I cannot ignore the possibility that I was being singled out or treated differently. At the very least, the interaction was deeply unprofessional and unnecessary. Do not come to this coffee shop. The way customers are spoken to here is completely unacceptable."

The location is super nice — relaxed and welcoming, with a chilled vibe that makes you want to hang out longer than planned. The coffee? "Other than their scones looking a little muffin-ish and “having the beans”, Ironside Coffee has little in common with Mocha Joe’s, which is quite awesome. Ironside’s coffee is delicious and hot, and the tables and chairs are level. Therefore, you don’t have to grab a stack of napkins in order to navigate wobbly tables. The staff at Ironside, instead of giving out bans, gives out smiles and amazing drinks."

"What a great place! I have been coming to Newark for work for a couple of years and the worst part is the lack of a good coffee spot near Gateway Center. I just stopped by this place today (it’s inside of Freshii) and was really happy to get a decent Americano! The ambiance is half-lunch place, half coffee shop. You can definitely lounge there for a bit or take the drink to go. The service was friendly and efficient. I just wish they had a bigger selection of pastries."
