"First Date has been such a delightful addition to downtown Toms River. I’ve been there a few times already, with my first visit being their soft open during one of the towns street fairs. I asked the owner if they have dairy free options, explaining I have a dairy and wheat allergy. She went inside to double check the ingredients for one of the items, which was very helpful and reassuring. I love that energy drinks, dirty sodas, and coffee drinks are offered. The drinks offered change seasonally (with staple cafe drinks offered as well) and the owner is very quick to tell me what changes can be made to the drinks to accommodate my food restrictions. Every drink I’ve had has been great and I love that they have a rewards program for customers. First Date is a great, family owned coffee shop, and the owners’ thoughtfulness is so welcoming. I look forward to visiting again."

"As a Toms River local, I cannot tell you how excited I was about the opening of First Date Coffee Shop. The vibes, gorgeous ambience, and delicious drinks made my visit worth it. I will definitely return with my young kiddos so they can also enjoy yummy treats and fun drinks! Kind owners who care deeply about making your experience the right one. I highly recommend! "My fiancé and I stopped by First Date Coffee Shop one weekend in downtown Toms River after seeing a long line outside — we figured it must be worth it if so many people were waiting. Unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing coffee experiences we’ve ever had. When we walked in, the shop looked cute and had nice vibes, but that was about the only good part. We ended up waiting over an hour for two drinks. The barista was clearly overwhelmed and trying to make multiple drinks at once (six at a time at one point), which only slowed everything down even more. About 25 minutes went by before the first few people even got their orders, then two customers ordered ten drinks to go, which added another 20 minutes to the wait. By the time it was our turn, she oddly took our order along with three people behind us, then gave their drinks out before finishing ours. After an hour and fifteen minutes, I finally got my toasted marshmallow latte — which tasted like burnt coffee and cream, absolutely nothing like marshmallow. My fiancé’s Americano was just as bad: bitter, burnt, and undrinkable. We spent $15 on two drinks we couldn’t even finish and had to throw away. Total waste of money, especially now a days. The barista seemed sweet but completely out of her depth and unable to handle the rush. The shop is tiny, chaotic, and seriously needs an experienced barista to keep things running smoothly. We wanted to love this place, but sadly, this was a total miss."

"This coffee shop has a cozy atmosphere. The iced white chocolate Christmas latte, it was spot on. They offer seasonal drinks as well as cookies. And look at those cute ❤️straws"

"Just recently moved to Toms River & have been on the HUNT for a good coffee shop, I’m happy to say First Date Coffee Shop has the best coffee i’ve had in a long time. My boyfriend got the Toasted Marshmallow Latte & i got the Reese’s Latte which were both 10/10! Not only are the drinks a 10/10 but the atmosphere was so amazingly pink & just a vibes which i love & appreciate so much. We just left & i can’t wait to go back to try the whole menu!"
