What People Are Saying
from Google"Been wanting to stop in for awhile and finally made it here. Excellent coffee and extremely hot just how I like it. Friendly employees with a relaxing atmosphere. Only feedback I would give is not charge extra for oat milk. It’s a turn off and takes away from the experience. Highly recommend stopping by for some coffee and desserts"
"This place was much better than the one in green brook! Perfect spot to get my Portuguese fix when I'm not near Newark. The Pastel de Nata is not a "wow factor" here but it will do. Typically you want a crunchy flakey crust and they don't have that here."
"We went there for the first time this past weekend (visit date 6/29). Food, service, atmosphere are all fantastic. The egg tart is highly recommended. Pictured is the chorizo & cheese on Portuguese croissant. We plan to become regulars going forward."
"First time stopping by and it was delicious! I haven’t had a real hot latte in this area in such a long time the latte was not room temperature, not boiling hot but It was just right! The service was great all the pastries looked delicious and the salads I can’t wait to come back and to try everything on the menu!"
"I’ve visited Portuga several times over the last several years. Today, Claribel, the manager, was operating the cash register. I pointed to the dessert items I wanted in the display case, and verbalized which Tres Leches cakes I wanted to take home as additional desserts for our Christmas Eve. Claribel appeared confused and tired. I was confused after only receiving one cake, but the other was not taken from the display. Long story short, the transaction was improperly inputed by the manager. Another employee helped her to void the transaction and properly input my items. Claribel continued to stare at me with a slight smile, but her demeanor was not friendly, nor patient, and she made no attempts to reconcile the error in a manner that would convey I was welcomed in the cafe. Her last words after I walked away and out of the cafe were “Merry Christmas” in a cheerful tone that did NOT match her demeanor throughout my transaction or the 2 customers before me. Mistakes happen. But how you conduct yourself, especially as a manager, demonstrates more than any phrase, or holiday greeting. Costumer Service, patronage, patience, and kindness, especially at this time of year, matters more than ever."
