What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Hey friends! This review is about sustainability only. I really enjoy your coffee, staff, and atmosphere, but am sad to see so much casual pollution taking place in the span of someone’s meeting with a friend, remote work session, or lunch break. By 2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. And over 95% of the plastic that we produce and consume, does not actually get recycled, but ends up in incinerators, landfills, or our waterways. Not to mention, the micro plastics! Which leach chemicals into our bloodstream, the food that we eat, and the water that we drink. And as a customer, I try to support local businesses that show a connection to our surrounding ecosystems here in Brooklyn, by way of offering real, reusable mugs. I understand that having a human dish washer or machine dishwasher is essential in getting this done. If you do have one of these capabilities, I wonder how you could help communicate and incentivize more reuse by your customers who are enjoying their beverages to stay. Because it feels absurd to see this much plastic trash created in such a short amount of time, on a street that literally borders the Greenpoint waterfront. I wanted to enjoy a coffee at your lovely location, but had to go find another café that could help me do so without creating a lifetime of trash. If you are unable at this time to provide real mugs to customers, perhaps you could put up a sign encouraging customers to bring their own. Perhaps you could use social media to promote this as well. There are lots of small fixes, even just asking the customer if they will be enjoying their drink to stay, or if they brought their own cup, that would help plant seeds in people‘s minds to remind them that plastic pollution is not normal. Even though we have completely normalized it. Thank you for considering, and thank you for being a place. I know to have kind service and delicious coffee. Would love to see a bit more circular reuse on site! Customers: bring your own mug for Pete’s sake!"
"Two stars because the woman working was nice and the aesthetics are cute. I didn’t want to post this as I’d hoped to contact them privately, but there’s no email on the site and it doesn’t seem like they check their IG. I was in this past week for a sausage egg and cheese over greens. The young woman at the register was admittedly busy due to a packed morning so I had to walk up and check on my order. She handed it to me, I left and began to eat on the way to the train. To my shock there was something firm, brown and not food in my food. I couldn’t tell if it was a paper towel or some sort of cardboard, but it was completely soaked in dressing and buried in between the greens. It was the size of my hand. I immediately walked back, showed her, stepped to the kitchen, returned and asked if I wanted to finish it, have a new one made or get a refund. I asked for the refund and left. She was kind (and maybe shocked as well?), but gave no explanation as to what it was and I don’t recall her ever apologizing. The problem I have is the food just okay AND expensive. There’s also big and little flies all over the place. I was hoping for a fresher menu and cleaner environment after Oh Mercy re-opened, but, sadly, this is the last time I’ll be back."
"Stopped in on a Monday morning to sit and enjoy coffee and the sunshine. The backyard patio area is a huge plus! There was a bit of a line, but the barista made the drinks quickly and was very kind. I just got an iced latte. Normal price, no complaints about size or taste. Good, casual vibe."
"Such a great local spot with a great vibe and welcoming space, it’s the kind of place you want to hang out in. Unfortunately, the coffee itself just isn’t good. I’ve tried it multiple times hoping for improvement, but it’s consistently disappointing. If they can bring the coffee up to the level of the atmosphere, this place would be a real gem."
"Great food, charming spot. However they really should consider a no laptops policy or at least restrict it to a small part of the cafe. Ambiance would be good if they didn’t let it get turned into a goober WeWork. Leaves no place to sit and eat if actually eating / not working, and no one wants to be an unwilling participant in a zoom meeting at the next table."
