What People Are Saying

"Brooklyn is known for its pizza, but this spot truly stands above the rest. From the first bite, you know you’re experiencing something special. The crust is perfection, crispy on the outside, light and airy inside, with just the right chew. The sauce tastes fresh and balanced, tangy with a hint of sweetness, and the cheese is rich, gooey, and melts into every corner of the slice."

"This is about the manager! I don’t want to give this place a bad mark, but the manager was incredibly rude and presumptive to myself, my friend and our two dogs. Without us getting a word in, he abruptly approaches and says to us, who are stand on the other side of the gate and perhaps not waiting for a seat “no, absolutely not, your dogs are too big!” First of all, my dog is not too big…please see the photo of myself and my dog enjoying a lovely meal there just two weeks ago. I was taken aback by his tone, and after he thought about it, he did decide to accommodate us, but it was too late, we went to Evelina, and they were angels! The food was good too! The servers at the caffe are great, the manager sucks! MY REPLY - I would like to edit my review in reply to the owner’s reply. Please be clear, the table you suggested was beautiful and perfectly fine. We did not accept due to the fact that you were extremely rude and abrupt, which is not an attitude I am accustomed to when dining at either location. Furthermore, your attitude and tone were highly inappropriate and almost ruined a beautiful Saturday. Have a blessed week."

"Hadn’t been here in many years after some bad experiences and decided to give it another chance. Very fishy tuna crudo. Ordered the ortolana pizza (pesto! Hot honey! Seasonal veg!) and we got was this cafeteria pizza. We expressed our concerns to the bartender who relayed to the manager who decided not to accommodate us in any way. This pizza scarred us."

"Stepping into this gem feels like entering a more delicious dimension, where the ingredients do all the talking. It’s refined without being fussy and somehow both casual and elegant at once. We ordered with abandon and thank God we did! Every dish was a masterclass in restraint, balance, and so much flavor. The burrata pizza was the showstopper, with its charred, chewy crust and creamy burrata pooling like mozzarella’s silkier cousin. It struck the perfect harmony between indulgent and airy. The bits of zesty sausage really made it sing. The fritto misto was crisp perfection, light, not greasy. The wasabi mayo was so fresh and added nice zing. Then came the saffron risotto, which was rich, golden, and impossibly comforting. It delivered big flavor with delicate technique, a warm hug in the form of rice. This is my new ultimate comfort food. The meatballs were tender and pillowy, swimming in a tomato sauce that tasted like someone’s nonna made it. We finished with mango passionfruit gelato and a tiramisu that could double as a religious experience. The gelato was tropical and vibrant, like sunshine in dessert form. The tiramisu was pillowy, not overly sweet, and laced with just the right hit of espresso. Hidden at the bottom was a crunchy surprise that added texture and flavor, completely unexpected and completely genius. This is a place true foodies will appreciate. High-quality ingredients, cooked with love, presented without ego. Saraghina is what happens when someone takes Italian classics seriously but not themselves. Already dreaming about our next visit. Or at least another round of that saffron risotto!"

"Nestled in the vibrant heart of Fort Greene, Saraghina Café offers an enchanting culinary escape that transported us to early 20th-century Milan. All the items in the restaurant were sourced straight from Italy. The menu signed by renowned Chef Jonathan Lauriola, this Venetian-inspired haven is a testament to the artistry inherent in Italian hospitality. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance wraps around you like a warm embrace. The refined yet friendly service sets the tone for an unforgettable evening. Our cozy table for four invited intimate conversation, while the soft lighting and charming decor beckoned us to linger. As we perused the menu, the recommendation of the Nebbiolo ‘24 from Piemonte was a masterstroke, adding a velvety richness that complemented our meal beautifully. The evening began with a trio of crudos, each bite an explosion of flavors to our taste buds. The ceviche, infused with hints of Italian technique, was a standout until I was introduced to the days-long fermented pizza dough. The funghi & truffle pizza was nothing short of sublime, Each bite was a reminder of how simple yet high-quality ingredients can elevate a dish to greatness. For the main course, the special of the evening—a traditional lasagna—was executed with such precision that it felt like a privilege to enjoy it. Chef Lauriola’s passion for using top-notch ingredients was the highlight of the evening, and the accompanying charred vegetables lent a delightful contrast to the richness of the lasagna. We couldn’t resist indulging in a trio of decadent desserts. The Tiramisu, a personal favorite, stood out as one of the best we’ve encountered, while the chocolate mousse captured my heart with its silky texture. The Pavlova, elegantly presented, was delicate and perfectly executed My heartfelt gratitude goes to Jon and his remarkable team for crafting such a delicious experience. The service was outstanding, making us feel like cherished guests rather than mere patrons The magic of Saraghina Café, it’s a gem that should not be missed."
