from Google"I had a wonderful treat when I walked into Carmela’s cafe and restaurant on 8th Street off 5th Avenue. I had heard about their Tiramisu Lattes and decidedl to try one. Dsvid and Andrew, two of Carmela’s baristas were full of valuable information about their menu items. The Tiramisu Lattes was delicious and based on all the folks enjoying sandwiches and salads, I’ll definitely be returning soon!"
"I had a great experience at this coffee shop! I ordered a hot chai tea and it was delicious and well-prepared (even though the cup wasn’t completely filled to the top). My friend ordered a matcha and she loved it too. The place is very clean, and the staff is attentive and friendly. The pastries also look absolutely delicious — seriously, finger-licking good! Overall, it’s a really nice spot to enjoy good drinks and a welcoming atmosphere. I would definitely come back!"
"Such a cute cozy place. Chill and relaxed vibe but yet vibrant. Must try their sandwiches which can be substituted with a gluten free bread. Clean and well managed restroom. Seems like they do have an WiFi as lots of people were on their laptops. They also serve their drink/food in reusable cups/plates 👍"
"Another coffee shop in the village? Well we don’t have a shortage of them but this one is really cool! Great layout and homey vibe. Coffee is nice. Great menu for brunch and lunch. Check it out."
"I live on this block and am happy Carmela opened but they need to improve. Their interior is great with a mix of seating options including armchairs and a couch which I love. Their drinks are expensive, 15 dollars for a latte and a chai, and while that's standard for this area, the quality needs to match. The problem at Carmela is the quality of the baristas/service. For this price you expect top level drinks and they are currently at the "hotel starbucks" level. My large chai has 2 inches of empty space on top because the barista couldn't be bothered to steam more milk. And the espresso shot for my latte sat for several minutes as the barista stopped to take more orders. (It wasn't even especially busy). Also, I hate the cheap lids they use. They are bodega coffee lids, not what you expect for specialty coffee. Again, not the worst but not equal to the price they are charging. So, I hope they improve, but for now if you want to get your moneys worth, there are many better options in the neighborhood."
