"Today at the location between 94th and 95th I came in to get my pick-up order, like millions of Americans do to their coffee orders in our tech-savvy world, and was immediately spoken to like a dog by an employee. "Aht! Aht! Those orders are for pick-up only!" I am a Black woman customer who has been there many times before with straight hair, but, today, coming in to pick up my order with my (large) afro, I was immediately treated like an animal. It was extremely disappointing as a professional who does her best to patronize businesses on the Upper East Side and who encourages her students to do so, too. I'll be getting my flat white elsewhere from now on."
