What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"Peacefood holds a very special place in my heart. This has been a meaningful date spot for my partner and me for many years now, and we’ve been repeat customers for nearly 8 years (we come in from Jersey City, frequently). The staff is consistently amazing—warm, attentive, and genuinely cheerful. You can tell they truly enjoy being there, which speaks volumes and makes the experience even better. The atmosphere is very chill, relaxing, and homey all at the same time—perfect for dates, catching up with friends, or even dining solo. The menu and daily specials are always on point. I’ve tried just about everything, and nothing has disappointed. The food is healthy, flavorful, and vegan—but please don’t let the word vegan deter you. The dishes are comforting, satisfying, and incredibly well done. The desserts are just as good, and the portions are generous—you’ll definitely leave full. Today we had french fries, tomato vegetable soup, spaghetti squash, a mango lassi, and a ginger turmeric latte, plus three desserts to take home: lemon poppy seed loaf, coconut roll, and banana bread. Everything was delicious. My hope is that Peacefood is here to stay and that more people recognize what a true gem this restaurant is. 🌱✨"
"Delicious lunch. Service was attentive & friendly. Food was well prepared, there was not a long wait time (perfect actually) and filling! Started with a couple of juices which were refreshing. Shared the chickpea fries then had The Other Caesar which was quite large and was very satisfying without the extra protein and only with the tempeh bacon. My friend had the quiche which was a very large piece with salad, and because her appetite was bigger than her belly the Macho Nachos she ordered was just too much and she had to take that to go. I enjoyed a slice of carrot cake which was delicious, too! I’m not in the Union Square area often but will return when I’m back!"
"Great place to stop by for a casual plant-based bite to eat. Very good value for money as well, with a meal for two coming out at less than $50 pre-tip. We had the: -Seitan Medallion Panini -Waffle + Tenders And were impressed by the speed at which they came out. Both were pleasant, no-nonsense dishes and very filling. There was a very attractive sweet/baked goods counter that we originally intended to buy something from afterwards to take away, but we found ourselves too full after the meal. Our advice would be to keep portion size in mind and save room, as everything looked amazing!"
"The greatest things about Peacefood Café are its excellent menu, friendly service, convenient location, and welcoming atmosphere—perfect whether you're dining alone or with a large group of 10–15 people, weather it’s dinner, lunch or between. The menu will fit every mood - ranges from healthy smoothies, soups, and salads to hearty seitan dishes and decadent desserts like chocolate cake. There are plenty of sweets to choose from! Don’t miss the chickpeas fries and turmeric latte. If you enjoy spicy food, I highly recommend the chili oil wontons."
"A delicious and filling meal! I had the mac and cheese and got a juice as well. The service was quick and attentive. I hadn't been to this location in a while, but it's a great space and conveniently located near Union Square, Washington Square Park, and NYU. A perfect place to stop for a quick lunch!"
"It's so refreshing to find an authentic vegetarian restaurant, where the taste does not have you second guessing. The Peacefood restaurant on the UWS does..."
