What People Are Saying
from Google"Truthfully, I haven't been here since my dad passed in 2006. It was one of his favorite places to go to. We had breakfast, I had to include goetta. Ashley served us fast and hot. I left her a Valentine decorated duck plus a tip. Don't ever forget to tip. I asked her to pick out a duck for me. I got a taco duck!"
"I had a really disturbing experience at Sugar & Spice Diner. I ordered a veggie omelet and found a staple inside it. I almost swallowed it thank God I noticed in time and was able to spit it out. This is a serious safety issue and completely unacceptable. Since the remodel, the service has gone downhill, especially coming from the kitchen. The food quality is bad and the customer service is worse. This is disappointing because this was a place I visited frequently as a kid growing up in Avondale. Sadly, it’s nothing like it used to be. They’ve lost my trust and will never get my business again."
"Absolutely fell in love with another diner! I had the avocado burrito and let me just say it was amazing. They even served it with homemade salsa and sour cream. Highly recommend 👌 you also get a duck after your meal. We got a couple 😉"
"When you walk in, don't just sit at the bar. You'll find out quick if you don't. 😆 Service is slow waited over 20 minutes so far as I'm writing this. Staff didn't smile much or make you gerl welcomed. We felt more like a burden. The toy ducks were entertaining for 5mins. Cornbeef hash was great, however the serving size was half the thickness of an English muffin & about the same diameter. Over easy eggs had the slime."
"Came in the morning before our long drive back to Texas. The Sunday after thanksgiving would have been an understandable day for service to be slow, or attitudes to be down, but not here. Our server Ashley had a smile the entire time we saw her. There was a decent wait for a Sunday at lunch time, but that’s to be expected. The manager was running around putting out every fire and was a rockstar. He never lost his smile, even when he was being spoken down to by someone less understanding of the wait. He made sure he had his team’s back and bussed tables and took orders when everyone was busy. Ashley was a joy to have as our waitress too. She made sure all of us who were in for the first time got a duck and was very attentive to the details of our orders. The kitchen staff was near our table and they were all so kind with each other and made us laugh more than once. Overall we loved this spot and see why it’s so highly recommended. The food was classic diner fare but it was done so well. No one left hungry, and everyone left talking about how glad we were to have taken the time. We got the meatlovers plate, the breakfast burrito, the pancakes, chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, and a Greek omelet with gyro added. Everything was delicious and hearty, which is exactly what we needed after a long week and before a very long drive home. We are looking forward to the next time we visit and get to stop in."
