What People Are Saying
from Google & Yelp"EDITED TO SHOW THE “NO JALAPEÑOS” In the jalapeño cheese bagel also. What a joke. Can someone please tell me where the jalapeños are? Look at the picture. I think I can see a specThis is the second time I’ve been here. The first time I came in, I didn’t know that you had a rewards program. No one asked me at the register when I ordered. When I got home, I discovered it after I downloaded the app. I had my receipt, and I looked all over and finally wrote to the corporate office that I thought was the corporate office asking how I can get credit for my purchase since I was unaware of the rewards program and the girl at the counter never even asked me if I had rewards or knew about it. It was never offered to me. I never heard a word back, so I finally threw out the receipt and that was three months ago. Since I downloaded the app, they sent me five dollars off my first purchase so I placed an order this morning online and I went to go pick them up. It was a bakers dozen bagels. First of all, I think I counted six cranberries and I have yet to find a walnut. I don’t expect this from a cranberry orange walnut bagel, and there is NO orange flavor at all. Tastes like a plain bagel. I opened up a chocolate chip bagel and I think there were six chocolate chips. Not only do you charge $.30 extra for almost every flavor so a $17 dozen bagels turns into $20 but then this is what we get??? It pisses me off because it’s not right. I could’ve had a blindfold on and I would’ve sworn that I was eating a plain bagel when it’s supposed to be an orange cranberry walnut. I think the only thing that made the chocolate chip bagel chocolate chip was that it was a brown dough and six chocolate chips. Another reviewer was upset About the jalapeño and six pieces of jalapeño so I haven’t even opened that one yet to see if it’s the same, but I wouldn’t doubt it. These bagels are expensive And a charge $.30 extra for almost every flavor that you have on the menu? Why don’t you just add the $.30 in to the price and be done with it. I don’t expect to come home with a box of bagels and on a blind taste test you can’t tell one from the other. I’m not interested in your excuses and your BOT Excuses of that that’s not up to our standard standards. Do something about it and give people what they paid for."
"So, I just had to leave this so management could see but what is this? Lol When I tell you I was so excited for my 7$ breakfast bagel and opened this I was like “huh?” $8 with tip. I haven’t been to OSBC since high school over ten years ago. I had high hopes, but is this the norm? In other cities this is not what I have seen, there’s substance in the other places sandwiches. This is a joke right? I was sooo hungry so ofc I ate it. But come on Side note: I got a jalapeño bagel, there were maybe like three tiny pieces of jalapenos… basically none on the bagel so that was also weird"
"This place kind of confused me! First off they have two different logos. So the branding makes me think it is a new place from outside, but on the inside everything has the old logo. So then I expect the old menu. It is a new menu with far less items. The Bagels taste fine, but all of them seem very uniform in shape. So this place is purely built on fast food style speed. The prices are good and the food is decent. Use this as a quick bite for the morning commute. Enjoy!"
"The service here is so consistently bad. I’ve been coming here for a while now and the employees have little to no training. When you try to order in the driveway the order taker won’t let you finish saying your order. Then when you pay they act absolutely confused when you attempt to use a reward from the app. Then your order will be wrong. I don’t know how many times I’ve ordered and gotten the wrong milk in my latte. Normally I move on and don’t bother complaining because it’s not worth it. Today as usual, they couldn’t redeem a reward from the app because they “couldn’t press the button.” No acknowledgment of the issue or apology. I brought up my concern and the kid at the window ignored me repeatedly until I paid. I leave with my order and of course 2/3 lattes are completely wrong. I call and they ask me to come back to remake them. I explain no I cannot come back because I have other things to do and by the time I came back (in over an hour at least) the new drinks would cold. Thankfully the person who answered ended up refunding my drink order. After all of that my issue is just fix the training of staff PLEASE. I want to like this place but every time I go it’s like a new day for the staff. They have zero customer service. The food is great when they get it right."
"I ordered 2 of the large, 8 ounce size lox cream cheese "spread" and paid $18 for it, expecting it to have some lox flavor in it. When I got it home and opened the container I was horrified to see only a few very small specs of lox in the cream cheese. It had absolutely ZERO lox/salmon flavor in it! $9 bucks for 8 ounces of virtually plain cream cheese! They might as well just saved themselves the effort and put no lox in it at all! Perhaps they screwed me on the microscopic amount of lox they added to this "small batch" of lox cream cheese because I did not add a tip to the $18 I spent on this? I have a policy of never tipping a service before I have received it, for the very reason I experienced here. It was absolutely TERRIBLE service! Friends, I caution you to seriously question your choice of bagel stores before you decide on Old School Bagels. Their bagels are just average but they really punish you with terrible service if you don't tip them ahead of seeing the results of that service. If they argue that I wasn't punished for omitting a tip, then this is terrible service for being their norm. Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy their small (8 ounce) tub of lox cream cheese. Just go out and buy the 8 ounce tub of Philadelphia Salmon flavored cream cheese for 1/3rd the price and purchase Thomas bagels instead. Their salmon-flavored cream cheese is much better and much cheaper than this batch of virtually flavorless spread and Thomas' bagels are much better. Sorry for the long review but I have never been screwed like this for something I have purchased from a specialty business such as a bagel shop. I warn you to avoid wasting your money on this business. You will be punished in some way for not tipping them at the time you place your order. This is an excellent example of why you should not do that. Whether it's punishment for not tipping them prior to receiving the service or just their normal level of service, either way you are risking being screwed out of your hard-earned money!!"
"I picked up a toasted chocolate chip bagel with cream cheese and it was absolutely delicious!!! I would go here again!"
