"First the food was really tasty. Very flavorful. The drinks were also yummy. However the service was lacking. We had a larger group and there was also some type of speed dating happening so it was fairly busy for a Tuesday night, but there was only one bartender and no server. Now I haven’t ever been here before so I’m not sure if this is always order at the bar situation but the only person serving us was the sweet lady who brought out the food. There was no one asking if we wanted anymore drinks or water and the bartender seemed annoyed when we were trying to clarify whose drinks were whose when they were just lined up at the bar. They were never brought to us. And the audacity of having a tip screen where the first option was 28% is crazy when there are no servers. Also a bit pricey for the food but it was good. I may try again on a different night to see if there is any difference."

"Bar Cala is a very cute and trendy place to check out with friends. Nice environment with great cocktail menu offering zero proof and traditional drink options. The outdoor patio is vibrant and the indoor space is equally cozy, entertaining and fun! Unfortunately the ordering process for food was a little disorganized and could use a better system in my personal opinion but overall it was worth checking out. It offers a tropical vibe for the rainy and beautiful city of Portland. I think this is a nice place to spend time with friends if you want a Latin inspired and fun sit down experience in the Alberta art district."

"Happy hour with my sister while I’m in town visiting. Cute interiors and totally Portland Cool Guy bartenders, in the best way possible. Super nice and friendly! Food and drinks were extra tasty. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the neighborhood!"

"(Group of 5 on a Saturday afternoon) It's such a cute/standout building. Absolutely gorgeous inside with all the plants. The light pink/green contrast gives chill Sunday Barbie vibes. Service was fast and friendly, the server gave great suggestions. Here, they don't have a set server for your table but they check on you often! There were at least 3-4 servers rotating at one time. Our group ordered one of everything off the menu for food and EVERYTHING was good! Particularly anything with fish was excellent! Highly recommend the tacos. I believe the pricing was fair for the quality of food. I will most definitely return in the future."

"Bar cala is very cute! Be prepared for it being spendier but don’t let that stop you from checking it out. The outdoor area is spacious with lots of seating. The inside decor feels fun and flirty. A great spot for a date or girls night! The drinks are very good as is the food. To save on money maybe just go for drinks though ✨"
