"Great spot to refuel with coffee. The samples are generous and self serve. The owner is really friendly and willing to explain his roasting process. The roasting is happening on the spot on site. And can I just say, where would you ever be able to get a cup of black coffee for $2 except through time travel back a few decades?! Really worth visiting! Artisan coffee roasting really doesn’t get fresher than this!"

"Update, August 2024: Cunningham has become my regular spot for picking up the coffee that I brew at home. Since they mostly appear to sell to local shops, I have yet to find regular hours posted for dropping in to make a purchase. We've learned to keep an eye out for an A-frame sign on the sidewalk saying that they're roasting. Talking to the person who personally buys and roasts all the beans, I've come to rely on his suggestions and recommendations. They also have canned cold brew, which I've never tried, but it sounds like a great to-go item if you're passing by while they're open. - - - - - - - - - - - There's a new place to get coffee in SE. No, it's not a spot to spend the afternoon with your laptop, but Cunningham Coffee Roasters can supply you with excellent quality beans to make your home experience much more rewarding. You can order online, and opt for delivery if you live nearby. For a small additional fee, your bag can be adorned with hand done artwork. Personally, the big reason I'm enthusiastic about Cunningham is that they take decaf seriously. The Cunningham Peruvian and Colombian decafs have made my mornings at home much more pleasant. Beans are roasted on site, and the people here will be happy to make sure you get what you like.They do not have retail hours posted, that I have been able to find. Keep an eye out for an A Frame sign on the sidewalk and an illuminated sign in the window, indicating that they're roasting."

"Sean is very knowledgeable about coffee and roasting. I have been all over Portland and beyond and have had difficulty finding coffee with the flavor profile that I enjoy most. Having roasted beans for around 15 years, I'm aware that flavors often change year to year from the same provider. Sean changes his roasting programs as required by various batches. It's not one roast fits all. He accurately can suggest alternate selections if needed and seems to be dedicated to making the best coffee possible vs volume production using set roast profiles. "We had such a great experience today at a private tasting and roasting with Sean!!! We got to try 6 different brews and chose our favorite to roast and take home with us. I loved the private 1 hour experience and being able to ask any and every question I had, even when we passed the 1 hour limit. I have no doubt Sean would be just as great at a public tasting and would highly recommend stopping in for a chat! The environmentally friendly aspect of Cunningham coffee is incredible, admirable, and a nice bonus to some great tasting coffee. 10/10!"

"I chanced upon this spot as I was gift shopping. Shaun greeted me as he was opening up and invited me in. This is a roaster with a tasting area, so come to buy beans and chat about Java but not so much to luxuriate over a book. Shaun was super informative(and genuinely passionate) about coffee and provided some quick tips on how to get the most out of a cup with how I brew. I don't often enjoy light roasts, but the ones he had for tasting were super flavorful and not overly acidic like I was accustomed to. I bought a bunch of their in-house roasted, single sources beans for friends and fam."
