What People Are Saying
from Google"I've visited this Papa Haydn location several times now with some visits being for lunch/dinner, but most recently I went with family just for dessert since their selection is easily one of the very best in Portland! My two personal favorites are the Passion (which has such a unique and wonderful blend of indulgent flavors) and the Raspberry Gateau, but honestly it's hard to go wrong here. The manager dropped by to check how our desserts were tasting and was very friendly and down to earth. On previous trips here, I also remember enjoying the pork loin and croque monsieur sandwich which tasted even better dipped in some French Onion soup. The entrees were good, but the desserts were definitely the star of the show for me. Their service is also consistently great, though if you're planning to come at peak dinner time I'd recommend making a reservation to avoid a wait."
"Whether you want to eat a sweet here or take it to go you can’t go wrong. I have enjoyed their desserts and tea selection and is great. Recently took a slice of this German chocolate cake and it was so good. Selection is smaller than their NW 23rd location."
"Best cakes in Portland. The marshmello in the hot chocolate tasted like made in-house. The Maple cheese cake and Georgian peanut butter tort were airy and not too sweet."
"It's all about the flower garden patio dining at this Papa Hayden location! Best time to go is lunch M-TH on a nice Spring or Summer day. It's not to crowded and service is fast. We enjoyed soup-and-dessert. A savory soup followed by a sweet dessert. Skip the salad! The kitchen loves a beautiful strawberry garnish. If you have a strawberry allergy, be aware that the menu does not reflect the extra strawberries. Let the wait staff know your allergies when ordering. Don't trust the menu. Papa Hayden remains one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. Yum!"
"This was our first time purchase at Papa Haydn. We got the lemon chiffon cake for Christmas Eve dinner. The cake was not stable so when we opened the box the top layer had slid off. Overall, we did not enjoy the flavor or texture. Would not buy again."
