What People Are Saying
from Google"We came here for our anniversary dinner and from the beginning it felt a bit off. Let us preface, the service was fine. We asked to start with bread but we were told we had to order everything at once. This threw us off based on how the menu was structured. When it comes to the food, the flavor was all over the place, some things being very underwhelming others being extremely overwhelming. We ordered the broccoli rabe to start and large parts of it were essentially burnt. We know the draw is food cooked over the fire but when parts turn to ash in your mouth, what then? Finally the entree's, my steak frites arrived cold, which I sent back, but when it came back, you could consider it re-fired under a hot lamp. This left it sweating and gummy. My partner got the tile fish, the flavors were great. It was a bit underdone, which she is fine with, but others may not be. Overall a pretty disappointing experience for the cost of the meal. We were left wanting a lot more."
"The East Passyunk open fire kitchen burns on seasoned wood. Chef Scott creates flavor packed grilled dishes that are well seasoned and very enjoyable. The burger, grilled chicken and crispy octopus all warrant consideration. His wife Lulu works the front of the house and pitches in to distribute timely table side delivery. The service proposition is good, and the staff is friendly and well trained."
"We had our rehearsal dinner at ember and ash last year (after only being here once before) and had an amazing time, food was spectacular, as were the drinks and service. We came back for our anniversary tonight and had the same experience. Great food drinks and service. Atmosphere was wonderful, our server Devon was lovely. We’ll be back!"
"This is such a great spot, owners are a local couple and the love comes through. Recently I was getting a drink at the bar at the end of the night and the owner told us he could make extra vegetarian dishes if we just asked. So we did and he came through! We had such a fabulous meal, drinks, service (Thanks Devin!), vibe. Really recommend it for any occassion! And it's a great bar to sit at too."
"NEVER GOING BACK. Honestly, they are lucky I don’t sue them. I spent $200 on 6 courses and by the time the smoked chicken in crying tiger sauce came at the end, we were full and decided to take it with us. I was almost halfway through by the time I cut to the bone and blood and other things started spilling out. This is the most undercooked chicken I have ever been served absolutely disgusting, BUT IF THAT WASN’T BAD ENOUGH the server coughed all over my wife and my wife conveniently came down with a flu the other day. Unprofessional, undercooked, quite frankly overpriced. I booked as a Resy reservation through my AMEX Platinum card and there’s absolutely no reason American Express should be recommending a place like this, hopefully I’ll be able to petition to have them removed from Resy so no AMEX customer ends up with food poisoning or worse. Regardless however, I wouldn’t recommend ANYONE order food from a place that can’t even cook chicken properly."
