"This is a charming spot that's equally comfortable but elevated. The host and server were both lovely. The french onion soup was perfect; they serve it with a steak knife to cut into the crispy cheese crust. The entrees were both excellent and reasonably priced for the area and the quality of the food and presentation. I'll definitely be going back."

"Visited the Tavern on the Hill with family yesterday and all I can say is it must visit. The owner walks around greeting EVERYONE and engages in conversation. I also noticed that he has a lot of repeat customers. I could hear him saying, "Nice to see you again." The food (lunch) was excellent. Everyone was raving about the French Onion Soup, it was delicious. I had the roast beef and cheese sandwich and it was tender and tasty. We also ordered a cheeseburger and BLT and they loved their food as well. The atmosphere is exactly that, a tavern setting. There is a bar in the front and dining room in the back. Perfect for a nice Fall day or Winter day. We will be returning."

"The last 2 weeks in August I feel are a great time to check out eateries that have been on your mind but may be overly crowded the rest of the year. A sunny 84 degree Saturday in Chestnut Hill was the perfect backdrop for walking the cobblestone lined stretch of Germantown Avenue and checking out posh shops and great eateries like Tavern on the Hill. Shawn was behind the bar and greeted us warmly. There were only 2 other patrons in the establishment that were on their way out. The cool dimly lit interior was a welcomed contrast from the sunny summer day. We were escorted to our table by a nice gentleman (I'm sorry, I do not remember his name) who pointed out the specials on the board. One of those specials was the Southwestern Soup (pictured)...absolutely delightful! We also ordered a cheesesteak w/provolone (lol that person isn't from Philly), Buffalo wings and coconut shrimp. Everyone really njoyed their food. I would definitely recommend paying this quaint Tavern a visit."

"I stopped in here for lunch and to take a break from the Chestnut Hill Fall Festival. Only a few people at this small bar located on Germantown Avenue. I ordered a Guinness to start and on my second round decided to have a board special and chose the shaved fennel salad with feta and a orange balsamic vinaigrette. This salad also came with mixed greens and toasted almonds. I must say this was the best salad I ever had. The menu is small but diverse enough so that anyone could find something to eat. Looking forward to going back. The server for the day McKenzie was both pleasant and courteous."

"We always have a good experience when we stop in here. The staff is always friendly, the pub has an old-school intimate vibe. The building is older and things like the bathroom faucets could use some attention, but we really like 'true pub' style. The menu has a good variety and the specials have been interesting and delicious. All of the soups are highly recommend, Everything is priced reasonably but we always make sure to budget for an appetizer and a drink or two at least, we usually end up tempted and order something extra we weren't planning on."
