What People Are Saying
from Google"Under the previous ownership I had a couple of truly awful meals at Watkins. The Stinkery we called it. The food is quite good now. If you avoid it because of what it used to be, give it another shot. The Stinkery is no more. Beyond the food, it’s a pleasant, quiet place to have a drink after work. Twice in a row I’ve seen a movie with Denzel Washington on a train!!"
"I have been a fan of Watkins since I moved to the neighborhood a few years ago. John, Mike, Jean, Becky, and Kate were, (and still are) great, and the atmosphere was perfect, but the food needed an upgrade. Exit John and enter Jack. The food has gotten a major upgrade, the same fantastic staff is in the house, and even the atmosphere has been improved. Say hello if you see me there and I'll buy you a drink."
"I’ve always liked this place but since the new owners took over it is even better! They got the upstairs bar back in use, updated the menu, and made a ton of other little refurbishments that just make this an awesome place to hang out at. I recently rented their upstairs for a private party and it couldn’t have been better - Alex and Jack were so helpful and truly cared that we all had a good time. LOVE this place!"
"I agree with the other commenter that the food is horrible and they should get a real chef. The burger patty was burned. The chef claimed it was “charred on the grill”, but in fact it had a thick, bitter, black layer that we had to pick off before eating the burger. The pulled pork was not pulled — it had chunks of dry, flavorless meat in it. As a side note, the photos on the wall are not framed, and instead are just taped onto old mismatching frames."
"Went on the spur of the moment. Met Michael, the bartender, who makes really good drinks. Katie, the server, who was ever so attentive and nice and Alan, the cook, who made our delicious food. Our drinks were really good. We had the pork wings, which really was a pork shank. It was a little difficult to eat, but the sauce was amazing. Our burgers were cooked to perfection, which always means a lot to me. Their kitchen serves until 1:00 am, which is good to know. Looking forward to a return visit."
