What People Are Saying

"Amazing service by Megan! We chose seating outside which is very nice and not noisy at all. They have unique dishes, we enjoyed the vegetarian agnolotti pasta, chicken crepes and a very filling chocolate mousse."

"Stopped in the Cafe at Carnegie after my museum visit. They have a Cafe bar for quick bites and coffee, along with other beverages. They also have a lovely dining area. The menu has a variety of choices. I opted for a turkey club and it was delicious. My hubby had a falafel. Both had generous portions. Quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Check for hours of operation as hours vary."

"I love the museum and always wanted to check this place out as an alternative to some of my usual cafes and lunch spots. This was the perfect place for a little elevated treat. The matcha was good and my cookie reminded me of the cookies I miss so much from high school. I’m aware this sounds like a diss, but it’s the highest honor. The environment is really why you come here, though. Even though you aren’t in the museum proper, there is still some art visible and the vibe overall is just cozy and upscale. I also attended an event with the Carnegie Connectors a few weeks ago that used this space. The catering they had for it was wonderful and the wine selections were good. It was a delightful event. Overall, it’s a spot where the food and drinks are good enough but the space is what it’s really about."

"I have tried this cafe twice now. I ordered the special braised pork belly and was shocked with how little food I received for about $25. I was really excited too when I heard the visiting chef was serving pork belly (one of my favorites). I then tried the cafe again a month later and ordered a duck dish. I was kindof shocked by the presentation of the dish (the duck was shredded) and I still was not full when I left. I would maybe stick to pastries and tea here instead of sitting down to eat lunch. Everything tasted fine but the presentation and quantity was not worth the price."

★★★

"For a cafe inside a museum, the coffee was actually quite good. I had an iced vanilla latte and it was a tad bit sweeter than I usually like them, but it was a great coffee, nonetheless. You can just walk in and have the coffee. You don’t necessarily need to have a ticket to the museum or go inside. This plenty of seats indoors and there are a bunch of tables outside facing the water fountains as well. The outside can get pretty noisy but good for people watching."

"I've been to the cafe many times, first review. This is a very nice spot for lunch in Oakland. You don't have to enter the museum. The food is excellent...."
