"Pulled up to Walter’s on a Saturday for a late lunch/early dinner, and the vibe was solid. Live DJ spinning during the day gave the space some energy. We ordered The Sandman from the “From the Smoker” section, which came stacked: brisket, ribs, pulled pork, jalapeño cheddar sausage, three sides, and two cornbread. Best protein on the plate were the ribs and pulled pork—flavorful and well-cooked. The brisket was a miss for me: overcooked and dry. Sausage was fine, but didn’t stand out. Sides were mixed. Collard greens and cornbread were good. Mac & cheese could’ve hit harder—needed more depth and creaminess. Fries were also good, and the BBQ sauces were solid across the board, adding nice flavor. Drinks weren’t bad either. Note: it gets busy on a nice Saturday night, and the kitchen seems to close before 11pm. So if you’re planning a late visit, time it right."

"We spent an afternoon at Walter’s drinking, laughing, and trading the kind of stories that only surface when the air is warm, the glasses are full, and the company feels like family. We spoke of how we met the lovely couple, and how we’d soon gather to celebrate them beneath that soft Pittsburgh light that makes even time hold its breath. And then there was Kaitlin & Sadie, queens of Walter’s! They served us the moon and the stars reminiscent of the original Bruce, our Bruce also known as Robert The Bruce. They didn’t simply serve us; they tended to us with laughter, with grace, with that rare light that turns a table into a memory. They kept us nourished, hydrated, and impossibly happy. Some people bring food and drink; others bring joy. They brought both💎. May the Gods bless you, Walter and your Bar & Grill, the home we never expected, yet found ourselves in exactly when we needed it most. That hour was golden, the kind of gold that doesn’t fade with the sunset, but lingers in the heart. It was the golden hour. The best hour. The forever Silverman hour. We will never forget 10.11.25 (between 1:30 pm and- 2:30 pm) 🕶️"

"Visited on 07/18/2025 (Saturday) Came to tour around Pittsburgh and was in the mood for some BBQ. Came with my girlfriend, brother and his girlfriend, at around 4PM. The menu looked intriguing and it was fairly priced. It wasn’t too busy, and there were plenty of servers around. Ours wasn’t as attentive as we liked to. There were two instances where we left the table to find our server to try and get help. Outside of our specific server, the rest of the staff were friendly and attentive to us. The food came our table relatively quickly and the atmosphere was generally great, with playing 2010’s classic hits that was easily enjoyable. The food was good, the brisket was definitely a standout. The mac and cheese was surprisingly good, and the pulled pork was good a nice eat as well. The baked potato was packed, the mashed potatoes were delicious, and the potato salad was also surprisingly good. It was a bit disappointing for a BBQ place to only offer two types of BBQ sauce, a house sweet and a house spicy. The sweet was better on the taste buds, and the spicy tasted like it wasn’t trying to ease into the buffalo sauce side. The spicy wasn’t particularly spicy, either. Overall, it was a good eat for BBQ in Pittsburgh. We paid around $30 per person after sides and soft beverages. Would recommend it if you’re craving it when in the area."

"Walter's BBQ Southern Kitchen was an amazing 5-star experience for my family! I was a bit unsure at first because they seemed to be nudging customers towards using tech. The menu and ordering process is all done through a website. I had to check out the menu, place my order, pay, and then someone brought the food to my table. It turned out to be easier than I expected. They have a massive menu, but unfortunately, a lot of the dessert options were either not available or sold out. The side dishes are all a la carte, so you can build your own meals. Prices were a tad higher than other similar spots in the area, but the quality of the food definitely made it worth it. The food was flavorful and absolutely scrumptious. The outdoor dining vibe was chill and serene. There were outdoor games to keep you entertained, plus TVs and music. I really liked all the powerful fans placed around the restaurant to keep everyone cool. I'm looking forward to visiting this place again soon!"

"This BBQ restaurant came highly recommended for the food and great service and it lived up to our expectations! The place was jumping and had such a great vibe! Chill! Make a reservation and come hungry! Smoked brisket and pulled pork were our favorites! Portions are just right but good luck trying to finish your meal. You will be full! Nice drink and beer selection too. (You will want to avoid the tables with stools!)"
