It is small cozy and full of character the kind of place where you can picture locals grabbing breakfast before the day gets going. The menu sticks to diner staples and does them well. Nothing fancy just solid comforting food that shows up hot and exactly how you expect it. It is the kind of breakfast that makes you happy you did not overthink where to eat. Service is friendly and efficient and the atmosphere feels familiar even if it is your first visit. You sit down order and eat without any rush or attitude which is refreshing. Franklin Spa is not trying to impress anyone and does not need to. It is a dependable Newport breakfast spot that delivers good food a relaxed vibe and a little slice of old school charm."

"Food was good - not great. We were told there was a 20-30 min wait but it was actually an hour and 10 min. When we were seated we ordered ice coffees and chocolate milk - the iced coffee had almost no flavor. After 3 creams and a sugar it tasted like something but still nothing interesting (and we usually drink good coffee black). The server couldn’t take our order for another 15 min because “the kitchen had too many orders.” We were kind but definitely feeling hangry at this point. When our food finally came we’d been there for more than 2 hours. We had nothing to drink for quite a while - and no one to tree from until food was dropped off. No one came back to see if the food was alright. We also had to get up to get napkins from the server station. We’d never go there again, not because the food was bad, but because the overall experience was unacceptable."
